This is the week that settles who gets the title and who already has the title, there are several big games scheduled for round 10...Plus who earns a trip to the play off's and who may get left out.

GAME OF THE WEEK
Monte Vista 9-0 at Dls 8-1......The pick.....Monte Vista 28 Dls 24....Betting against Dls is foolish, but the Mustang's have one of the best QB's in the area, leading a strong passing game, he has a good supporting cast to protect him as well as a good running game...DLS is DLS, they always are able to recover if in trouble in the first half....This is the Mustang's big job.....To take the next step up and don't fall like Cal did.

BIG GAMES
Campolindo 7-2 at Clayton Valley charter 8-1.....the Pick.....CVC 32 Campolindo 28.....The Cougars have a nasty passing attack that CVC does not....The Eagles resort to running and on defense, the combination of passing and running against CVC may be more then they can handle...there is a good chance that Campolindo will dump CVC...
Pittsburg 8-1 at Antioch 6-3.....The Pick....Pittsburg 44 Antioch 32....A Sat.meet at 1 P.M....the Pirate defense will hold down the Panthers.. As good as Harris is, he can't do it all, the line play will make the difference...
Oakridge 8-1 at Folsom 8-1....The Pick.....Folsom 38 Oakridge 26.....The Bulldog's steam rollered DelOro and DO and OR played each other to a close game...This has to be a all out effort for Oakridge.
Central Catholic 7-2 at Oakdale 7-2.....The Pick....CC41 Oakdale 20....Unless the Mustangs's can come up with a tough defense to hold CC down, it will be a long night.
Cardinal Newman 8-1 at Rancho Cotate 7-2.....The Pick....CN 44 RC 27.....This is for first place as both teams are 6-0 in league play, but it will be a serious project for RC to stop or slow down Jordan Brookshire and Co.
Wood 5-4 at Vacaville 6-3.....The Pick.....Vacaville 38 Wood 20.....The Bulldog's showed just how strong they can be against Pittsburg, but could not contain Napa...Wood's passing may be the key to meet Vacaville...
GAMES OF INTEREST
Salesian 7-2 at El Cerrito 6-3.....The Pick....El Cerrito 32 Salesian 26.....The gaucho's have the speed and the size, but must play smart. Both are 3-1 in the Tri-Co. rock League, winner will be the champ...

Bishop O'Dowd 8-1 at San Leandro 6-3.....The Pick.... Bishop O'Dowd 27 San Leadro 20....this is for first place in the Foothill League...Both teams faced Freedom....BO lost43-13 and SL went down 48-14, but this was early in the season, so both teams have been battle tested.

GUYS......One more big game which is on Sat. at one P.M. where Pittsburg visits Antioch, this will give a lot of people one more chance to see Harris in action....This guy is a hard runner, and it take several people to bring him down...Harris is fast, but the pirates have a group of speedsters that are capable of running him down....Its going to be a high scoring game, most likely like the Campolindo-CVC game, Folscom-Oakridge game and the Rancho-Cotate game.....the Monte-Vista-DLS game is no telling and out in the valley, Central Catholic will do some high scoring against Oakdale...

The committee attends games to evaluate and rate each team. This is obviously a good thing. This gives the committee a much better way to evaluate such as who is controlling a ball game in wins and losses, and the overall level of football. This makes for a better bracket. Good move by the NCS.

Palma Chieftains at Hollister Haybalers is a huge rivalry in the south. This year it is for bragging rights for the MBAL Gab. Hollister is undefeated season withnon-league wins dominating Los Gatos and Wilcox, and Palma is undefeated in league with last minute close nonleague loss to St Francis (9-7) and first game loss at undefeated Sutter. Last season they battled to the end with Palma winning in OT. This game could have bowl implications as well. It is alleged that Hollister purposely watered down their turf field two years ago (the field was wet and muddy with no rain that week). Some of the Hollister players had "F$#*" Palma written on their cleats. These two teams/programs don't like each other. Should be a burner although I pick Palma.

Might be best night of football so far this year. Huge games. Does DLS go down? I still say yes but they seem to be playing a lot better as of late.

Amazing, what happened to Monte Vista, they go down in flames like California, again DLS is DLS and it was foolish to bet against the Spartans...Now the question is, what will DLS do to the others in the playoff...

DLS was never challenged? The Spartans were held under 100 yards of offense in the first half and only led 10-3. MV was driving late in the third quarter down 31-17 and got inside DLS 30 before getting stopped.

MV is a good team with lots of talent. The Mustangs have a lot of two way players and DLS just wore them down. Would love to see MV vs Pitt or Freedowm or CvC. All great match ups.

Therunningsloth......I'm surprised they won, I gave up on them awhile back as they have a good team, its that the coaching staff does not get the most out the kids, poor pass defense, been a problem for years, line is not aggressive and when they are they commit too many penalities and have blown games that could have been won....They have a strong Freshmen and JV team moving up, but I think, they will wind up be just like all the past teams, just sputtering instead of winning, something has to be done at Alhambra...

I honestly believe it's the defensive coordinator because,last year They had a solid cornerbacks system last year from what I remember. But there line backers and safeties blew it for them. I couldn't agree with you more about the penalties cost them a shot at NCS last year. they need to put the Jv head coach as the head coach on var because I honestly can't remember the last time Alhambras JVs had a losing record.

Guys.....To give one an idea of what the defense did so far this season at Alhambra, they gave up 291 points while the offense produced 298...almost a case od the defense trying to give up more points then the offense can score....
