WNBA playoffs begin ...

So how many of you have watched any of the WNBA playoffs so far? And how many parents have encouraged their girls to watch the WNBA playoffs up to this point?

Many are willing to share in the spoils of college basketball, high school basketball, and the other benefits that fall to basketball players, but it should be made clear at the same time that there is an obligation to support the sport as well. Just as important, if not more important, is that girls who watch the WNBA playoffs can't help but learn something – the commentators are informed and will talk about the way the game is being played and what decisions are being made. There is no better way to learn certain aspects of the game than to watch television and listen carefully to the commentators.

Though it would be great, it's not necessary to watch the whole game. Watching for 10 or 15 minutes is a positive experience for a young girl who wants to be a better basketball player. And it also supports the sport at its highest level.

had trouble watching WNBA in its early days due to scoring woes--defensive skills seemed to overpower ability to put the ball in the basket (sort of like with little kids who are starting out--defending is much simpler than putting a ball through a metal hoop 10 feet off the ground).

well, the game 1s of the semis certainly remedied that. neither game was close, but offensive skills were on prominent and impressive display. I encourage anyone to check it out. as to the one-sided outcomes, well, there's a reason why they play best of 5...
