11th annual Nor Cal Tip Off Classic Schedule

Saturday November 25, 2017 at Newark Memorial High School

Game 1: 11:00 AM St. Ignatius (San Francisco) vs Las Lomas (Walnut Creek)

Game 2: 12:30 PM Dublin vs. Berkeley

Game 3: 2:15 PM Newark Memorial (Newark) vs Lincoln (Stockton)

Game 4: 3:45 PM Moreau Catholic (Hayward) vs. San Joaquin Memorial (Fresno)

Game 5: 5:30 PM St. Joseph’s-Notre Dame (Alameda) vs Folsom

Game 6: 7:00 PM Capital Christian (Sacramento) vs Rancho Christian (Temecula)

Game 7: 8:30 PM Bishop O'Dowd (Oakland) vs. Fairfax vs (Los Angeles)

Strong field as always... SJM has the #1 2020 kid in the country, Jalen Green... Would have been a great matchup with Kyree Walker had he stayed at Moreau. Oh well, lots of high-end talent spread throughout the day.

For the Socal teams, I know Rancho has the Mobely brothers, anyone know who Fairfax star players are?

Fairfax has a big PG named Ethan Anderson

I just now looked to see the ages of those who started for Fairfax in a late-season game against Bishop Montgomery last year... All underclassmen on a 26-6 team.

Here's a really good game between fairfax and mater dei this summer. It may have been a summer game, but both rosters seemed to be with their regular players and they went at it. So Cal open should be another good one to watch.

Did Woodcreek ask out or were they asked to give up their spot by director?

Does it matter? Woodcreek went from a state power to a cellar dweller in their own league overnight.

I think it matters if the coach opts out because he doesn't have 1 player. Since he has been winning, the bball gurus in Sac are calling him one of the best coaches in the area. Best coaches don't hide out after a lose, they play with what they got and compete. Are they going to drop out of GIBT, Palm Springs, etc

He set up a schedule for a top 10 team in the state.... they are now barely a top 10 team in highway 80 corridor. Does nothing for the wood creek team now to go and get their heads beat in.

Paul is a really good coach, evident by winning a Norcal title. Winning or not, you schedule based on your personnel. Its much easier to drop/accept out of a showcase game than a tournament. I assume they'll keep the rest of their schedule in tact.

Does Woodcreek have any other transfers out? If not, the hate has gone too far. Cellar dweller in the SFL? I can't believe that

The hate? I think the point is 90%+ of their team offense is gone. They lose Jordan Brown and Chris Cagle correct? Along with the best PG in Sac last year in Roberts to UCSD. They had poor Fresh and JV teams. Who else is coming back? Please explain to the board how they are going to be good? I'm really curious. Good coach or not this just became an average team.

Last I heard, Cagle was there. Earlier posts said they would be cellar dwellers in the SFL and they are barely a Top 10 team in the Highway 80 corridor. I think both statements are going too far

Paul Hayes is an excellent coach. I have watched his teams play for the last 15 years. I have no doubt that he is one of the better coaches and is a good man as well. I have no problem with him dropping out of high end tournaments now that the make up of his team has changed significantly. Paul is doing what he believes is best to prepare his team for the SFL season I am sure. I do not see how this can be legitimately criticized.

I don't think anybody is criticizing the coach. He is one of the best. I think the fact is they look very average on paper now. Shit happens. Who knows how it plays out but who is going to step up?
