2022 Aidan Mahaney narrows down top 7

I think SMC is just too small/close to home.
His ceiling shrunk a little because of his size and athleticism. I still think he will be a good college player though.. Don’t go to CAL!

Why not Cal? Instant starter at a P12 school, focal point of the program and a kick ass degree ? He’s a 4 year guy……..they have a nice class coming in lead by Roberson, a freak insane under the radar 6’7 athlete from Ireland who has a 40 inch plus vertical who played well on the east coast last 2 years, and a 4 star forward from San Diego……seems like the ideal situation to be the alpha program changer versus just another guy

Yale and Princeton have the no scholarship thing working against them. Will hurt the Ivy League Schools more than anyone with the new NIL rules.

Cal and St. Marys are too close to home IMO. I think he wants to go somewhere different.

I think Wazzu and Northwestern are the favorites...with Xavier being the dark horse.

IMO I think Cal, St. Mary's, and Xavier could be the best bets. He would not be noticed by the NBA if he goes to Yale or Princeton. Wazzu and Northwestern are interesting choices but they barely appeared in the March Madness tournament

Wazzu's coach is Kyle Smith. Former USF Coach. He has actually built quite a nice program there and he is starting to get some high-major recruits. They to me are the overall no. 1. If you were to ask me where I think he would end up if a decision had to be made today, I think Wazzu would end up being the choice.

He is a 4.0 student high performing academic background from the LaMorinda area with a mom who is a Stanford alum……how does a Wazzu degree stack up compared to Princeton, Yale, Northwestern and Cal? Or any of the other 6 on his list ? Ivy League schools give you financial aid packages where u aren’t paying a dime, they have endowments the size of small country GDPs to take care of that

In terms of relationship with a coaching staff, he has no closer relationship than with the Bennett family

He has more then likely grown up on the st marys campus in the WCC he would have the potential to be an impact player in that conference the only way he ends up at cal is if bennet ends up at cal a job he has passed over at least once.CAL is a real mess right now and in desperate need of an administration that is going to support There athletic programs. There best player from last year left and is at San diego st now.

Cal is and has been a hot mess for a long time in their athletic dept. Add in the financial woes of the UC System and the debt drag that stadium has and I just don’t see that happening. I’m not saying their current talent isn’t good I’m talking about the big picture. And academically it’s a great school like we all know.

I also don’t think Aidan is a can’t miss prospect. I think he will be a good college player in the right system. Great to have options and he’s been a pleasure to watch.

My guess is Cal or St Mary’s and I think SMC has a really good chance to land him.

Guards with his skill set have done well at St Mary’s.

nobody is going to washington st on their own. stop it. it is the least desirable school in the pac 12. cut it out. would you rather be in tempe, los angeles or pullman?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!

athletes that go to yale or princeton arent too worried about NIL and making money. St marys being right there is the reason. how many nor cal kids leave the state and come right back in a year? toooooooooooooooo many

the degree isnt as important because of a few factors. not sure of his major but he checks a few of the boxes that lessens that. he probably is going to try to pro route after college too so the degree might not even be all that important on his decision

Well, well…. I head off to Ioway for a jazz festival, and that’s when we get Mahaney news.

Lots of interesting guesses ERRRR prognosis on here….

Despite all my Campo yammering on here, I have no more info than any of y’all regarding this… I have talked to Aiden a little bit, and his mom somewhat more than that, but have never thought it would be my place to even ask about grades or recruiting and stuff.

All I can say is that I’d love to see him running the floor at Moraga for another four years…
