Division I: Menlo-Atherton (PAL) vs. Silver Creek (BVAL)

Division III: South SF (PAL) vs. Aptos (SCCAL)

Division V: Woodside Priory (WBAL) vs. Castilleja (WBAL)

Woodside Priory is an interesting case. They played a tough schedule and lost games without their guard -- so given the 30-seconds per team discussion limit (OK, maybe two minutes), will the committee keep Priory in D-V or bump them up to D-III or D-IV?

That looks like a NorCal champ in D-V, though of the course the South, by competitive equity, will be sending a much stronger team to Golden1. (It's about percentiles: The 50th best team out of 800 teams should be better than the 50th best team out of 500 teams.)

That North/South imbalance is a strong reason for the North to try to parcel out its best teams throughout the divisions. But a competitive equity mandate may not be helpful in that regard.

Remember, the committee is statewide, so no fudging will be allowed.

Well, there goes that theory right into the Dumpster. Very tough to get around that North/South disparity. And tanking is not appropriate. Or is it?
