Aragon forfeit?

Aragon to the ocean HMB to the bay.

Loser of Carlmont vs. Seq to the lake. Bring up Mills.

Maybe it was a year to early for Carlmont to come up. Haven’t beaten a good team all year.

Lost to Menlo by 6. Lost to San Mateo in overtime. Lost to Hillsdale late and scored 40 some odd points. Carlmont is fine where they are. If those losses were blowouts I would agree.

And they have dealt with all sorts of behind the scenes craziness all year and competed well. Your not going to hear him air that publicly.

...meanwhile, back at Aragon, what the heck is going on there?...they have a full roster, a long tradition, a competent coaching staff...this one is a real head-scratcher...

Aragon has always had a strong tradition and to hear of this is odd. I heard it’s because of “physical disadvantage and is the best thing to do for the physical well being of the players” However I seem to remember over the years they had no problems playing these games vs their rivals hillsdale and San Mateo when Aragon was in the bay and one of not both of those other teams would be in a weaker lake division. Isn’t that a “physical disadvantage” as well? There are over 40 kids on the Aragon roster by the way

The Aragon season was already in the proverbial dumpster so to speak as the team had not been competitive with even mediocre teams with numerous blow-out losses. The coaches and its anybody's guess have had enough and taken the course of least resistance by throwing in the surrender towel. So sad as I remember Aragon as a premier player in the Bay League and some really good and proud teams.

There is an article up on Prep2Prep about the Aragon forfeit. It will be interesting to read poster's comments.

totally understand it and its a smart move by an experienced coach?staff showing love for his players MA is at a different level within san mateo county football with the exception of serra who kicked thier butts on all three levels MA has some flat out studs/athletes at all levels but also hve a handful of ginormous kids that will headshot blindside opposing players every chance they get. Another safety issue is jumping on top off/Body drop slam themselves onto a player already on the ground. no objection to big hits and kids playin ll out but they go way overboard lol

Not good for anyone, unless there was a serious situation. The administration should not let that happen.

There could be pregame discussions between the staffs about how to mitigate the talent gap

Aragon offense trying to take time off the clock
M-A going basic after Q1
Running clock in the second half

By choosing not to show up is an issue.

Is this a type of protest about not being moved down from the Bay Division?

Makes you respect certain teams and staffs around the PAL that much more.

Half Moon Bay doesn't get the most athletic kids in the world. Yet they are well coached, disciplined and can play with almost anyone.

El Camino has never been good. They schedule up in some instances, always show up and always fight you to the bitter end.

I've heard that Jefferson has played 5 different games this year with 21 players or less. That is insane. A parent of one player told me they got down to the mid teens versus San Mateo. They lost that game 14-10 and lead until late in the third.

Burlingame played M-A last week with 24 guys available. That roster has not a single interior OL or DL who will even sniff playing at the JC level. Not even close. The M-A JV team had at least six linemen/linebackers who would play significant snaps for the Burlingame varsity. But Burlingame survived and now prepares for heavily-favored SHP.

The question might be, will CCS take punitive action against Aragon football as they did against Serra in the CCS consolation game? Both coaches had similar concerns although Walsh's decision had much more meat to it.

Here's one more thought: Aragon's next game is a finale vs. rival Hillsdale Nov. 8. Aragon now has two weeks to prepare for that one. Hillsdale plays San Mateo this Friday night. That's also an intra-city rivalry game which figures to be hard-fought and close. If you are the coaches at Hillsdale, you cannot be terribly pleased with the Aragon decision.

Ethan Kassel article:
“We just had our homecoming rally two weeks ago, and it would be hard to put something like that together in three days,” Snow said. “We knew (the forfeit) was a possibility, but as recent as late last week we were under the impression that they were going to play.”

The effects will also be felt financially. M-A had just four home games scheduled this year, and with the cancellation of Friday’s game, the school will be reduced to just three.

“It’s also one of the few sports where we charge at the gate, so between concessions and everything it costs us about $15,000,” Snow added.

Can anyone tell me that $15,000 is legitimately the cost of EVERYTHING for one high school game? Seems like that is on the high side.

No. That $15,000 figure is the anticipated loss of actual game revenue. There won't be many, if any, expenses for a game that won't be played. The loss is on the expected revenue side.

Yes!!! You got me. I spend a

No. Just around enough
