Who are the top candidates for the Bellarmine basketball opening? Should be a well sought after job, hard to lose with that many boys to choose from.

Long time assistant varsity coach Alex Sarrett takes over at Bellarmine. Congrats to a well deserving person. My son and his Bell teammates learned a ton there (on and off the court) as several from the '18-'20 classes are now playing college ball. Congratulations to Coach Patrick Schneider on his retirement as well. He ran a very successful basketball program for many years in the tough WCAL and is a great teacher at BCP. He was also one of the best defensive high school coaches in NorCal IMHO. Coach Schneider once asked all the varsity parents at the beginning of a season, "Who is Bellarmine trying to beat?" Some said "Mitty?" Others said "St. Francis?" His answer was simply, "Just the team we were yesterday." Go Bells.
From talk among many of the alumni the school was in need of some change, all good things come to an end. It should be nice to see where the program heads over the next few years.. Coach Sarrett's arrival to the varsity staff in believe in 2015-16 coincided with a real elevation of the program. Enjoy retirement Coach Schneider but I believe the program is in great hands.
