I see him as a stretch four who can knock down the 15 footer as well as be a banger on the blocks. He can actually handle the ball pretty well which wasn't shown in highschool because Mitty needed him down low. He would really have to work on his handle and three point range to be a PAC 12 3 man, but I wouldn't put it past him as he is a hard worker.I've seen mentions that he is a 3/4 at Oregon State. Seems to be more of a solid four to me. What's the board's take on him? Does he have the perimeter skills to play the 3?
I have seen him in practice this pasr year and trust me he is pretty accurate from 15 ft.Not a stretch 4 but an old school power forward who plays near the rim. He's really raw on the perimeter but he's a big time athlete. I think he's closer to 6"9 now. I saw him play up close last year at CAL and he looked pretty legit height and weight wise to me.
Actually extending out to 15 ft and being able to take the defender off the dribble fits the term "stretch". You dont have to be a knock down 3pt shooter to fit the term "stretch".Ryan Anderson is a stretch 4. He had these skills in HS, CAL, and now in the NBA. Extending the floor to 15 feet isn't exactly what they mean by "stretch" They are talking about face up 6"10 guys who can put it on the floor and shoot the 3. I don't see Kone in this mold at all. I see him as a rebounder/garbage points and screener. He's so physically gifted though he will be a factor from day 1. I'm not trying to put him down I just think he's going to live near the paint.
TinklePowe was DOMINANT when healthy. Kone is good but let's not get too carried away. Coach Timkle will do a great job putting him in positions to succeed. Great fit. great choice.
