Well this isn’t the type news we like to hear.... But winning the Bay again sounds good!!

Wow, that’s rough. I actually coached with Pappin a while ago when I was in college, good dude. Hope he lands in a good spot.

Well good luck next year! HMB should be the favorite to win it and challenge for D1... how did Foothill do in their bowl game? Is the former HMB qb down there? How did he do this year?

“Negative parent interaction and disbelief in me.”

It goes both ways. Maybe he could’ve said, “The expectations of the parents did not coincide with my clear communication to them at the community meeting I held with them at the outset.” Or, “I worked my butt off ingratiating myself to all parties connected the program.... I presume based on my dismissal I could’ve done better. No skin here and zero inside knowledge but there tends to be two sides to every story.

No doubt a new coach gets lasered focus. Best to lay low; but I’ve seen parents ki$$ azz and get what they want. The best coaches nod their heads...then ignore them; others fall into the dual standard trap. That can spiral; gravity wins.

They went 7-4 those 4 loss’s were to:

2 teams that were top 10 in the state.

1 of them to a top 10 team in the state of Utah that beat De La Salle in 2016

1 of them to a great team in Wilcox that went to OT and was a great game.

and you give the man the boot after one year... terrible!

Clearly it is not about his win record - it's about parents wanting to armchair coach and then getting upset when he doesn't do as they say.

There were confirmed reports that some parents screamed outrageous comments at the HC prior, during and after games right out there in public. This guy, no matter his competence (or lack of it), never had a real chance.

Agreed. It doesn't seem like he was given a fair shake.

Taking over for a successful and popular coach is one of the hardest things a coach can do

Today's edition of the San Mateo Daily Journal confirms it: Papin got the boot due to unrelenting parental pressure.
