amen brotherBummer.
I wish these decision makers didn’t bow to pressure from squeaky wheels that always want to be far too overly cautious.
Some people can’t see the forrest for the trees. Nobody wants to get covid19. But nobody wants to lose a roof over their head or starve either. If these multi-million dollar businesses don’t get back up and running, the people that depend upon them doing business for their livelihood will suddenly find themselves unable to make ends meet — if they haven’t already.
We can’t sit and hide in a cave wearing masks forever hoping to wait this out. Time to get busy living. Take all the precautions you can, but live with the consequences.
Sure, collegiate student-athletes aren’t the same as pros. But a small percentage need to play in order to get a shot at a pro career. And then there are many people around the athletic teams that make a living supporting them. Trainers, security, ticket takers, administrative, media, officials, etc, etc.
We’re gonna see the bigger name programs play. Because of the money and livelihoods at stake. I wish everyone else could see it and do it the same.
My apology to those that are hyper-sensitive and overly protective. But I’m over this $#it. We shut everything down for nearly 6 months and it didn’t make the virus go away. Athletes were still getting infected during the shutdown just like everyone else. Starting back up while being as cautious and preventative as possible isn’t going to suddenly tip the scales.
People need to get back to working again. To make money and support themselves and their families. And for their own sanity!
If kids don’t go back to school, that’s hard to do. Is the State gonna pay for everyone’s day care? If businesses shut down again and stay shut down, we’re soon gonna have worse problems than covid19. I’m pretty sure someone can starve to death in less time than the virus will get them. And we don’t want to see our homeless numbers skyrocket because people can’t pay their mortgage/rent.
Bill collectors aren’t going to defer much longer and the gov’t has taken away the weekly unemployment stimulus and won’t replace it anywhere close what it was.
It’s time to get moving again, people. Get back on the ferris wheel. Revolutions.
Bummer.

I hear everything you’re saying, but the fact that the hospital where my wife works is full and has zero beds available seems to go against your wishes. Maybe it’ll take one of your loved ones getting sick and needing respiratory treatment to realize the hyper-sensitive, overly protective people see that hospitals can’t handle massive amounts of patients all at once.
Exactly how I feel!Bummer.

I will say I'm a little surprised by this (right or wrong). Take the virus out of it for a minute, I know FCS schools got hit financially with the buy games going away but I thought they would try to make a go of it this fall.
Now attention turns to MWC and Pac-12
well you missed a deletion above you. that mentioned things not big skyThis thread has transitioned away from the Big Sky and more about COVID. So I’m going to leave it open if people want to talk about the Big Sky. If not, I will lock this thread.
Thanks

it's disturbing how much academia bows to their internal 'single mindset' cult and culture with one goal in mind.....we will look back one day in shame that we allowed them to drive the agenda. Not enough people in those broken institutions actually care more about kids than they do towing the line with their colleagues and their fear of the mob.
There is so much wrong with what you've said here but since it has absolutely nothing to do with football, I won't comment further. I will say though that these schools, coaches, players want to play. Implying that it's some "PC" push from academia to ruin sports/football is ridiculous.I was watching a program on Mao's re-education program....it reminded me of our academic crowd. Recently listened to a dean at one such institution indoctrinate the incoming student body of the need to identify what pronoun they associate themselves with...he, she or it. Literally spent 30 minutes on the subject with all the incoming parents taking it all in. He, she or it.
