Here I am in BOD’s teeny lil gym, awaiting their game vs. Capital Christian.

In the Open prediction thread, I picked the Dragons to get the job done by 19. I think their size and the home court will wear Capital down but the game will be very competitive... Just a question of *when* the Dragons assert themselves...

Of course, I’m hoping for a much closer game than that... We’ll see in awhile... 17 minutes til tip.

Some have wondered if Dragon big man Hawkins is playing or not... He’s in uniform warming up, so I guess the answer is “yes”.

Game time, and surprisingly this lil place is crowded, but not jam-packed...

Dunno how the rules work re: hosting... Haven’t seen Salesian’s gym in like forever... Matbe it’s even smaller.

Besides, Salesian plays a lot of games at Albany anyway, so maybe they just voluntarily moved their game.

Time out again... 22-7 Dragons.

It’s not helping CC’s cause that #1 got hurt on the first trip down the floor.. Never saw what happened. Rick Barros

Some more folks finally got the memo... Gym now darn near packed... 29-13 with 4:51 left in the half

We got ourselves a ballgame now... CC finishes the half on about an 11-2 run! 36-31 Dragons at the half...

Dragons draw a lil bit clear after CC got within 4 a couple times... 57-48 end of 3

Now that I’m safely out of traffic and awaiting my omelette at Black Bear Diner Walnut Creek... A couple takes on the game...

First of all, O’Dowd’s gym is not a safe place for any game... The injury to Barros in the first minute *may* have been caused by the fact the bench players are so close to the sideline they’re nearly inbound. I couldn’t see from where I was, but he may have injured his ankle by stepping on a bench player’s foot, just barely out of bounds.

Food has arrived... More later.

Props to Capital Christian for showing a ton of grit... They had plenty of chance to mentally throw in the towel, but never did.

Not after the injury to a top player practically before they'd even started...
Not after falling behind by 15 in the 2nd quarter...
Not ever.

Great stuff!
