Brackets out

how the hell does a team get third in league AND get placed in the open. Arguably, San Leandro and Piedmont should have went in before them. Looking at these brackets the committees for EACH division royally screwed up these seedings.

I think the open was designed to pull privates out and mix them with whatever public school is on an even playing field or close to it that year. With public schools those will change every few years based on waves of talent. I’m fine with O dowd as the 5. Gives a school like San Leandro a chance to win a section title when otherwise they’d have had no shot pre open division. Maybe it doesn’t mean as much and it’s a diluted title, but to the kids I doubt they see it that way. Still get to hang a banner. What if they gave publics the option to opt out of NorCal/NCS open? Would that be an option to fix all the complaining about seeding and teams getting screwed? They used to allow teams to opt out of the open but not anymore. Does anyone know why they changed that?

And I’m talking about state for opting out of open in the past

What kind of competitive equity does not include all the best teams? Piedmont is better than BOD yet are not eligible for the open? If BOD and Piedmont end up in D1 state BOD gets the higher seed?
