Brea vs. Carondelt

Anyone have thoughts on this one tonight? Sorry about the misspelling on Carondelet.

It should be a good test for both teams. Carondelet will need to slow down senior point guard Reili Richardson, and Tyiona Watkins. And Brea Olinda will need an answer for Carondelet's senior guard Vanessa Cruz who has been playing as well as anyone, as has Bri Simonich. It may come down to who wants it most and has the gas late in the game to gut out the victory. The coaches and players on both sides must be ready to make plays and adjustments. And also know when to get out of the way and let the best players themselves decide the outcome. Because it is the players that ultimately have to get the job done.

It should be a good game.

Coaches need to know when to get out of the way? Maybe drop the kids off at the school, put up a cardboard cut out of themselves, go home and have someone text them the final. Is that what you mean?

No, I mean in my opinion it is not about micro managing kids. I believe you are a good coach when you teach kids how to think for themselves and communicate well amongst one another. Leave the coaching ego at home if the spouse will tolerate it. Ask yourself a question...........

Have you really done a great job coaching if the people you are coaching always need to turn to you every step of the way? I think it is more important that a coach helps children build confidence and self esteem than bragging about how great a coach they are, or how great a system they have, and how many games and championships they the coach has won. Great coaches make better players and better people out of those they coach when they move on to the next experience in life in my opinion. They have enough self confidence and self esteem to put others care before their own ego. I think you should empower the people who actually are on the battle field responsible for doing the work. Great coaches are there to manage the "game" not to micromanage the players.

All coaches are not automatically good coaches. And they are not always right. Some cross the line and actually do more harm than they do good. Some coaches abuse their authority and actually act out on the bullying they never got away from as a child themselves. Or become a bully because they were once bullied as a child. Some coaches have more self esteem and confidence than others. Some do a better job than others. Some coaches are more afraid than their players are during games. Some coaches lack integrity, abuse their power, and play favorites, even at the team's expense. The main part of coaching is leadership and accountability. It also helps to have a little integrity. Coaches need to be held accountable, unless they are responsible enough to hold themselves accountable. Both coaches and players should earn respect, not just players.

I got it, thanks.
All good. We are just out to make sure we give the children more support and positive encouragement than we had as a child ourselves.
Adults have a responsibility that is better done collectively. We can't all just always look the other way unless it involves us personally. All things will effect us all whether directly or indirectly. Positive change happens with courage and conscious thoughts. Not being a coward who lacks integrity. You are just as guilty as the perpetrator if you just agree and go along with something or someone you know is doing wrong. Too many sell outs and weasels out there. Stand up and show some courage and integrity !

65-62 Brea over Carondelet. Carondelet made a game of it at the end as Brea had a double digit lead with less than 4 minutes to go in the game.

It's not out of the question to speculate that Carondelet and Brea could meet again for the Division II state title in March. Unless they win the SoCal Open, they will probably be in DII in 2016, not Division III as they were in 2015.

It was a good game. The key players I mentioned prior to the game were the difference makers. I think they can both take a lot of positives away from the game. And who knows what the results will be should they meet up again. They should both be better teams because of the experience in my opinion. Congratulations to Brea Olinda.
