Brea vs. St. Francis was simply a mismatch. Brea's athletes were too quick and too savvy for the home unit. The sieve-like SF half-court pressure opened up the entire middle of its interior zone and Brea picked it apart with ease, getting layup after layup. It was no contest. The ballgame was over with 12 minutes to play. Brea's halfcourt man was superb as well.

In hindsight, you're right ... but they did play McClatchy, Inderkum and Carondelet in the Diamond, and only beat Carondelet by three in the championship game. And Oaks Christian, the team Brea would have replaced in the Platinum, lost to O'Dowd by just seven and beat Brookside Christian by 32.

Brea struggled in the post-season, losing twice in the Southern Section Open tourney and eking out wins vs. Troy and Vista Murietta in the SoCal Division I event. SF was by far the most vulnerable foe faced by Brea over the last several weeks. Clay is correct. Brea did not waltz through the WCJ Diamond bracket. Brea is well-coached, well-prepared and blessed with a terrific starting five. But they have definite flaws. SF did not take advantage of any of them. In fact, they invited Brea's athletes to operate in open space which magnified their strengths in the half-court and full-court. .
