Bryce Monroe Enters Transfer Portal

Sorry I had to do it. Not the first time Bryce left a SH school 🤣 🤣 🤣 . Hope he comes back home perhaps St. Marys or USF.

This is literally the greatest thing to happen to me as a Torero fan in a long time.

I actually thought a couple weeks ago, maybe Bryce will transfer somewhere closer. Well, San Diego is one of the most beautiful campuses in America. Everything is brand new, and I feel Bryce is going to thrive in that town. Also you get nice road trips against st. marys, usf, santa clara, and pacific, so all 1.5 hour drives or less for Renard.

Congratulations to Bryce, and Renard....I hope your ready to eat some of the best Mexican food you have ever had in your life!!!!!

good for him. san diego imo the best city in calif by far and possibly best city in the country. SD aztecs still own the city but what a great learning institution he selected welcome back to Cali

Los Angeles is the greatest. SD isn't too far though.

USD probably not the best route to get to NCAAs. Last appearance 2008 and 4 total. WCC is probable a good fit for Mr Monroe. Best of luck. Does he have to sit out a year and how many times can you transfer? Does he still have the graduate transfer once he gats a degree?

I think NCAA’s decision not to count 2020-21 against athletes’ eligibility clock due to COVID-19 will not require transfers to sit out.

Yes we havent made the NCAA tournament in a long time. I was a student at USD last time we made it, and we upset Uconn in the 1st round. Had a very similar guard to Bryce in Trumaine Johnson that ran the team as a PG. Key for USD will be adding height, and they are already working on that. Also USD has a ton of transfers, so lots of experience, they will be competitive right away. And I think that is one of the reason's Bryce chose them over some other schools that offered.

Not saying we are going to be better than Zags, but I don't see why we can't be better than any other team in the WCC, and usually the WCC is a 2-bid+ league now.

'we?'

Gonzaga, BYU, St Marys, USF and Pepperdine are top teams in WCC. It may take them 2 to 3 years...

Seven players left Sam Houston this season including the Southland Player of Year that is all I will say about that other than we as a family were appreciative of the opportunity. Bryce matured and was able to contribute as a freshman and brought home Freshman of the Year while maintaining a 3.4 GPA . So we are proud of that. He looks forward to competing at San Diego which is a great place and I will add as in anywhere in sports all it takes is one good recruiting class to make an impact. San Diego has already made some moves toward that this Spring. For those few that want the opportunity to see the new look and Bryce play some local games this will be the perfect opportunity. I for one am very happy that he has chosen and was selected by University of San Diego. He has some off season work to put in and I am sure he will continue to have that chip on his shoulder that will drive him to flourish. We look forward to seeing his development as a player but more importantly as a young man. One of very few Student Athletes from SF that are thriving at the Divsion 1 level right now, which will open doors for others. Guys on here with a horse in the race hoping their kid gets an opportunity shouldn't be talking down on any school unless in a positive way and should be speaking encouraging words about Student Athletes from the Bay. Good things happen to Good People. You can't Hate and expect to be Great! Looking forward to hopefully attending those USF, St.Mary's games

There are definitely pros and cons to the
Transfer portal but it is definitely changing the landscape of college basketball.

Where is that other terrific guard who played with your son at Riordan?
