Five wins to be state champion in divisions 1-5 if all brackets have 16 teams. Open is different depending on how many teams on the bracket.

1) Salesian (Bye)
2) Riordan (Bye)
3) DLS (Bye)
4. Clovis North vs. 5. Modesto Christian

Semis:
Riordan vs. DLS
Salesian vs. Clovis N/MC winner

D1 will be absolutely loaded.

Clovis North lost head to head games with both Salesian and Riordan earlier this season.

I think St. Joseph still has to be in. I think it's a six-team field. But could go five.

1) Salesian
2) Riordan
3) De La Salle
4) Clovis North
5) Modesto Christian
6) St. Joseph

OR

1) Salesian
2) Riordan
3) Clovis North
4) De La Salle
5) St. Joseph

MC is ahead of SJ in the 6 team, but not in the 5 team?

They’ve added the word late to the CIF site. They must have some issues to resolve.

Agreed. I don't see a Section champion getting left off for a runner-up in another section.
6 teams makes the most sense. The 4 section winners (Salesian, Riordan, MC & CN), plus DLS & St. Joe’s. Neither DLS or SJ belong in D1. If they need 7, then either Branson or Mitty would be in the mix. And of course University!

And sneak Stuart hall in!

Really.. 2 from CCS 2 from NCS 2 from Central and 1 from Sac-SJ… that’s 7, I just guessing they not giving 1 bye. St Joes losing adds Clovis to mix otherwise I see the 6. But Clovis has to get in now

Naw.. they gotta take 8.. nobody should get BYE in state bracket
There have been 10 opens. Look above in saved threads for Nor cal history. As far as this year they could probably make a 16 in south it’s so deep which means D1 will be a monster. North 8 is a long shot .
History as follows for open
2013. N7. S7
2014. N6. S8
2015. N8. S8
2016. N8. S8
2017. N8. S8
2018. N8. S8
2019. N6. S8
2020. N5. S 6
2021. Covid
2022. N7. S7
2023. N5. S5

there’s been 10 opens. They’ve had a bye six times in the north and four times in the south

Nice researching !!! CIF playing with ou emotions waiting this long to put brackets out!!

They placed St. Joesph in the Southern bracket. I like the selections. great matchups ahead!!

Has the CIF committee split sections before, where one team is in the NorCal bracket and another team from the same section is in the SoCal bracket?

Suprise they put St Joe’s in SoCal open after losing sectional over Bosco and Mater Dei

yes. Few years back all central used to go south . Then they began splitting it. I can’t remember the year but first time it was almost a punishment as winners went south and runner ups went north. This time opposite.

2017 was first year with split central section.
D1 champ Central to south D1 16 seed
D1 runner up Bakersfield South D2 10
D2 champ Ridgeview South D1 12
D2 runner up SJM NORTH D2 5
D3 champ Selma South D3 6
D3 runner up Sanger NORTH D3 10
D3 semi finalist went south
D1&2 semi finalist went home

MC is ahead of SJ in the 6 team, but not in the 5 team?
The CIF solved this by putting St. Joseph in the South. But yes. You can tweak seedings to prevent certain matchups, like how the NCAA does to ensure conference foes don't meet until the Sweet 16.
