Per Yahoo Sports, Cal has canceled PAC 12 football opener due to not enough scholarship athletes to field a team because of Covid 19. Game will not be rescheduled. Conference is worried Cal may not be able to field a team and C will know more in coming days.

The pac 12 is a complete embarrassment. They never wanted to have a season and then through together this disaster because they didn’t want to be the only conference not playing. Cancelling a game because one player tested positive....which is probably a faulty reading to begin with.
This is going to hurt in more ways than one. In addition to missing a game, you set a precedent to cancel games moving forward if one player has COVID.
Outside of that, this is going to crush recruiting for them, and they have to worry about players transferring out. How does the Mountain West out perform the PAC-12.
Another potential major issue is coaching. Wilcox is a great coach. This is the time other conferences will look to pluck guys due to this type of ripple effect and opportunity. I am sure he is frustrated beyond imagination.

Seems to be more of a Berkeley issue. I think UCLA had a similar situation with one person testing positive, but they still played today.

Cal is being crushed by the ultra-harsh Berkeley health department's virus rules. No other Pac-12 school is subject to such draconian treatment. Jon Wilmer, the Pac-12 expert with the Bay Area News Group, has speculated that the Bears may have to leave Berkeley to save their season. That sounds outlandish when you first consider it but, then, after some reflection, it doesn't seem so crazy at all.
