Campo should win comfortably here in all three games, but ya still gotta play ‘em…

The varsity game’s importance for the Cougars is that, with a victory they’d be 2 games in front with just one to play, clinching the DFAL title.

The Coug JV’s beat CP 55-32 last time…

I only know this because I found a new-to-me app called Sportsengine that has all the scores, not just the few uploaded to MaxPreps.

Cougs hve gotten within one or two several times, but have not tied or led in the 2nd half. Cougs have it now, down by 2, 1:14 left.

Falcons get a held ball, they have the arrow…. Cougs steal…. Driving layup to tie…. NO!! Falcon ball. Foul by the Cougs, 1 and 1…. 31 seconds left. Still 41-39 Falcons. First FT goes up, good…. second missed!

3-ball to tie… BAM!!!!! But the Falcons go right down and score to lead by 2 with 4 seconds left.

Another time out, called too early by a Coug, doesn’t get the ball to half court.

Cougs get the ball downcourt, good layup chance…. NO go. Cougs beaten 44-42.

Bennett rebounds a miss, pass to Aidan, hi3 rolls out…. but Radell with the rebound, fouled. FT’s split. 1-0.

Bennett with a steaal, leads to a layup…. 3-0.

CP’s Moore drives for 2. 3-2.

Falcons #22 hits a medium J…. and the the Cougs turn it over.

But they rebound a miss…. Bannett hits a 3 from DVC! 17-9.

CP almost loses it on a 5-second call, but their coach called time… JUST in time. 14 seconds left, 17-9 Cougs.

I believe everyone suited up for the Cougs has played.

5 seconds, Cougs ball on own end…. They get it to Tyler Bergren who does his best Secretariat impression, racing all the way to the rackk for a reverse layup! 19-9 Cougs after one quarter.

CP beats the press and scores…. 22-11…

Pass by O’Reilly to Radell, he scores and is fouled…. FTi n and out. 24-11.

Steal at the last second by CP, but they can’t get a shot off…. Halftime, score 29-16 Cougs.

Campo coach is clearly managing minutes, saving starters’ energy for tomorrow’s Miramonte clash.

Nifty pass underneath for a CP layup…. 34-20…. Bennett scores after stealing one, then O’Reilly hits a 3 after another stop…. Suddenly it’s 39-20! 5:28 left in the 3rd.
