Not exactly breaking news but gofan.co FINALLY posted the Campo vs Riordan ticket availability this morning and it was immediately SOLD OUT. This really sucks for basketball fans who wanted to attend the game in person. Whoever is responsible for these types of decisions - CIF at the NorCal or state level - should be fired! I don't think any tickets were made available to the general public.

terrible. This game would probably be sold out at st marys but at least we would have a chance to go! I’m sure CW is sold out too. That’s hottest ticket in town.

All the more reason to have the final in a larger more befitting venue.......sad.

Campo announced it sold out its tickets on Thursday. Riordan announced sellout yesterday afternoon.

Any idea why they went that route? I mean people have been damn near locked up for 2 years. People want to go out!

There is a homecourt element to Campos gym, that would probably be lost at a St Mary's or another larger venue. They played hard all season long for the 1-seed. They deserve to play in their home gym. It sucks, everyone won't be able to go, but the home court advantage will 100% be had.

This is as good a matchup as you could possibly get, and probably should have been reserved for the Championship game. Anyone attending will be seeing an all-time classic tonight, featuring the two best two teams in the Bay Area IMO.

Riordan got smoked by 17 at the Gridley, but this is a completely different Riordan team. That Riordan team was still gelling, meanwhile Campo was riding high on the Senior duo of Bennett and Mahaney, whom had been playing together forever.

I am going to go Campo by 5 in a close one, but sorry Kiddman32, I am cheering for all the SF teams from here on out!

Campo has a great Hs gym and it’s on the bigger side too. Im not a fan of golden 1 for these type of games but something in between makes more sense to me. Agree it will be one for the ages. Good luck to all kids playing.

I am sure Ayalar would have a different perspective if his precious Knights were playing & he was unable to get tix :). I also don't buy-in to the concept that this far into the playoffs that home teams deserve playing in their small bandbox gyms. This is the NorCal Open semi-finals! Even the BCL has their playoff games at Kezar so 100 or so people don't have to trudge down 100 steps into the dungeon on Octavia Street!

I was at the first matchup in Gridley, and will be traveling the mean streets of Moraga tonight to see the second one.

Riordan was actually ahead 9-8 after 1, and they were tied at 21 at the half, but Campo came out with a vengeance to start the 2nd half and blitzed the Crusaders 19-4 in the 3rd quarter.

Similar to the way Campo clamped down on D in the 2nd half of their 2 DLS matchups, they held Riordan to just 10 second half points up in Gridley.

Riordan did look like a much more polished team Wednesday at DLS than they did in December, but the entire Campo team was there watching that battle and Dyer and staff should have the Cougs ready for this one.

Campo’s Robison was injured and missed the first game, but is now back in action. I’m not aware of any Riordan injuries, but they did use their personnel a lot differently than they did in those games in Gridley. Should be a barn burner. I’ve got Campo by 3 in a close one.

Campo players believe me have plenty of experience playing at St. Mary’s College gyms!
shame more fans cannot attend the game.

Christian Wise did not play as he was sitting out b/c of transfer protocol (Heritage HS).
Quentin Kennedy played key minutes for Riordan at Gridley. He transferred to Lincoln-San Francisco in January. The AAA Champ Mustangs are still playing in NorCals after their win vs. Marin Catholic.

I agree. I’d much prefer a larger venue for these games, but aside from the NorCal finals, haven’t most NorCal games been at home venues the past 20+ years? But this is the Open and they really should make an effort to make it available to more people.

FWIW - here's the December matchup at the Gridley Invitational Final between Campo and Riordan. Wise, a soph and a senior returning transfer did not play. Interesting, the soph and returning senior transfer are no longer on the roster. Riordan played mostly a 2-3 zone in December as the team was gelling and player rotations were getting figured out. Riordan has now gone entirely to a straight man defense, often plays its entire roster depending on matchups with its opponent. Their defense IMO has been key during their post season run.

It would also be nice if all the games didn’t start at the same time on a Saturday.
it would be nice if the games didn’t start at the same time the over 70 crowd flocks Mimi’s Cafe. 5-6pm start times? Sorry this isn’t fresh football.

This game would sell out St.Marys College easily and still be a Campo home court advantage.

People keep hinting that schools have chosen to play their playoffs at home sites... Completely untrue.

CIF made this call a couple years ago. It's been on the CIF website for a long time. The 2020 D1 NorCal finals had Campo play at DLS, and all the other divisions did the same. They would have done it last year if there had been playoffs. And earlier rounds of the Regionals have been held at home sites for quite awhile, with occasional exceptions for teams that have tiny gyms, such as Salesian (even in Salesian's cases, they've been allowed to find a nearby larger gym, such as Albany or the new Pinole Valley gym, then host there).

I don't agree with the logic nor do I like a team having homecourt in the regional final, but there it is. I miss the multi-game extravaganzas, too.

For many years American Canyon, Delta College hosted Division finals.
