We predicted that Campolindo would win 28-19, so we were not far off.....This was a real battle, but it was Miliptas who penaltized them selves out of a possible victory as they racked up 135 yards on 16 penalties.that all came at the worst time, but Campolindo was not far behind with 8 penalties for 65 yards, 40 yards coming in the first quarter....In the first quarter, the Cougars ran the ball three times for two yards, but the first two pass plays turned into sacks for five and seven yards, but the first Score came on a 75 yard bomb from Westphal to Max Flower on a side line pass with 8:42 left on the clock...Now The Trojans pass game was red hot in the early going, mixed with a sold ground game as Miliptas marched down the field and capped the drive with a 33 yard pass play.
After the 75 yard score, the cougar passing game went dead as the QB missed five atempts in a roll, falling short or uncatchable...But in the second quarter the cougars were marching and got down to the 10 yard line, only to fumble with the clock reading 5:30, but a few minutes later, Matthew Ringquist burst thru the left side of the Trojan line and scored on a 20 yarder....but earlier in the second quarter Miliptas bulldozed their way from the three yard line, carrying defenders in the process.with 9:55 on the clock....
Going into the third quarter it was tied 14-14, but Miliptas broke the tied with a FG from 20 yard out with the clock reading 7:11, but missed another FG with the clocking reading 1:09...
then things got crazy as a three player pass took place as Westphal fired a side line pass to Young who in turn dropped a pass right into Torchio's hands and the Cougars pulled ahead 21-17 on a 66 yard pass play, but Miliptas followed suite with a 80 yarder pass with 8:11 left on the clock and they took the lead at 24-21, but the Cougars booted another FG from three yards out and tied the game at 24-24 and with .23 seconds left, blair booted another FG and the Cougars got by Miliptas 27-24
In the early going, the Campolindo pass game was going no where, but a change in tactic's took place when the ground game began to click...But the cougars gained only 68 yards on the ground, on 19 tries with six for no gain and three for only one yard. The passing game was better as Campo went to the air 29 times for 234 yards, missing 17 tries and hitting only 12 and was sacked four times for 29 yards. The cougars got 11 first downs , punted four times fumbled three times and lost them all, recovered one fumble while Miliptas racked up 15 first downs, punted twice, fumbled twice and lost both and the ground game rolled up 148 yards on 36 carries with five for no gain.
The big IF......If Miliptas had not committed so many penalties, there was a very good chance they could have won. As they worked into good scoring position, only to have it back fire.....So Campolindo travels south next week end....

Your usual great post/breakdown, thanks.

.........but if Campo travels south next week end they may be participating in a one-legged
, butt kickin' contest.....

Wow! This game seemed like an all out war! So many great games last night. Congrats to Campo.

God bless.

One last note...While both teams were beating each other up and there were a lot jarring hits on the line and in the back fields, there was a lot of respect for each other as both teams were helping each other up after each encounter....this was a different kind of game...
