CARDINAL NEWMAN VS SMB

Thanks Guru, appreciate that.Im very interested in this one, hopefully we (SMB) give a better account of themselves than the last game.CN seemed to have learned something after the first game these two played.

Awesome. Will be tough for Newman. If they handle the press they come away with a W. No doubt. If not you will have St Marys' advancing.

Would be a great night in Newman hoop history if both girls and boys can get back to Norcal finals.... Guru do you know when the last time that happened? I might have an idea...... But of course it was Ursuline.

I will be over at Folsom vs ODOWD. I'm in the east bay tnite so its easy for me.

What seems to be the difference this game? Seems like CN had SMB`s number the previous two games.

4th in league, knocked out in 1st round of league, and now to NorCal Final? Are they the Drake of this year?

Like I said its tough beating a good team 3x in a season. Hats off to SMB. Sounds like Capital Christian in the real deal.

Thanks for the updates Guru, much appreciated.Congrats to Cardinal Newman on a fine season.Very good program and school.

Yes, they are. I am not surprised. They have great high character student-athletes there and Coach Craig Battle is a very good coach and better man. He will attract good people to that program. They are only going to get better. Keep it going Panthers!

My thoughts on the 3 CN vs. SMB games.....

The 1st game in the Rose City tournament at CN.....CN squeaked out a 1pt. win in a game that quite frankly I think SMB probably should have won.

The 2nd game (sections)....SMB had the lead late and CN went inexplicably on a 20-2 (?) run (I think)...that kind of masked how competitive the game actually was.

the 3rd game...... honestly SMB came out of the gate and took it right to CN. They pressured CN's best player, forcing Rubintino to settle for contested jump shots. They also face guarded Wallace all night and made him earn everything he got. I thought SMB outplayed CN (without a doubt) from the start and (except for a 2-3 minute run in the mid 4th were CN pressed and got a few steals to cut it to 8.) pretty much controlled the entire game...honestly it never felt like SMB was ever really in trouble.

So what I am trying to say is that I don't think the outcome of this game is that big of a shock....the score is kind of shocking, but not the SMB win.

Thanks for the summary of the 3 games. Now,how do you like SM`s chances vs Capital Christian? Haven`t seen them play, but a seven point win on the road vs Marin Catholic is pretty impressive.Sounds like trouble for my Panthers.
