Tarasow deserves a spot on that All Bay Area list. A D-1 signee who IMHO was a lot better than many who made the list.
It's a shame really, because Erin Tarasow represents what you'd really like to see in a player.
She has talent, yes, but she's not flashy in any way. She will hit three or four threes in a game, and never change expression. She'll make a mistake, get yelled at, and never change expression. All she does is play hard every second.
And she never stopped trying to get better. Every season she added something to her game. By her senior year, she could finish right or left, hit a floater and of course drain threes. Despite being one of the more slender players on the floor, she punched well above her weight as a rebounder, and was never afraid to get on the floor. And she gave it 100% on defense, in practice and games, and that's really all you can ask.
Finally, many seniors feel it's owed to them to be the stars, but on this year's team, Erin accepted a role a quarter-step behind juniors Mia Mastrov and Jordan Allred, and never blinked. She just went out and helped us win in any way she could.
Ironically, she was on the list last year, but I guess they just never looked. As I said, it's a shame, not because Erin needs the validation -- she has a full ride to Seattle, after all -- but just because she deserves it. There are players you work with who reward you, in the short and long run, and Erin was one of those. I can't imagine any coach who wouldn't have been overjoyed to have her on her team.
