Castro Valley beat Berkeley (67-41) behind 20 points and 11 rebounds from Nina Bessolo, who was playing her first game of the year.

Xinavane Foreman had nine points and nine rebounds.

As for Castro Valley, Jim Lemmon has done a great job there over the years, and consistently produces well-coached teams. They just always run into O'Dowd in their league, but this might be the season they can finally slay the Dragons.

Then again, O'Dowd is very good too ...
