The Division II California Collegiate Athletic Association has canceled all sports through the entire 2020-21 academic year due to the pandemic.

I don't know the right answer, but how do you play if you don't have the means to testing? That seems to be the issue with the CCAA.

Sounds about right. Those Division II state college budgets are not on a par with Division I outfits. But it is still a bit odd. For example, as of this morning, the five state colleges in the Big West are still playing (that could change at any point, however). The new restrictions imposed by virus-hit counties may well shut down the Division I programs as well. We will find out soon. All of it bodes poorly.

The CCAA, of which 11 of the 13 members are CA State schools has already canceled Fall Sports for 2020. UC San Diego and Cal Poly Pomona are also members. Not a good omen to say the least. Sports continuing in 2020 in CA doesn't look likely as of this date. And, I can't get my head around the idea of sports starting up in January 2021, right in the middle of the traditional flu season. Fortunately, having attended Catholic schools all my life, I am praying for divine intervention! Lord knows during these unprecedented times (at least in my lifetime), we can use all the help we can get. If pro sports and college sports get back to playing, we have a chance. Otherwise its the line from Dumb and Dumber, "so you're saying there's a chance." (1 in a million). And, in this case, I will be ecstatic to be wrong.

Best swishes,
Coach Forslund

This is what I wrote on May 15, 2020, when asked about HS sports. Now that CCAA has cancelled sports for Div. 2 college programs in CA, what public school superintendent will vote yes to HS athletics for this year? Governor Newsom going to issue guidelines to get started (maybe at the next French Laundry function. Sorry cheapshot!) I need to pray harder and more often (which certainly won't hurt) and need to convert fellow coaches, athletes and caring individuals to join me, because this is certainly not helping our chances for HS athletics this year. I certainly cannot wait for 2021!
