Mitty 93 Crystal 30. Morgan Cheli's return makes an already unstoppable juggernaut much much better. She had 22 pts 8 rebounds and only played half the game. Crystal has no one over 5'9. Mitty has 10 players over 6 feet. This won't be Mitty's only romp. Suspect better things ahead for Crystal.

Branham 46 Los Gatos 43. Los Gatos was missing its leading scorer and rebounder, Nicole Steiner. Mercury News says she is off at a volleyball tourney. Without her, they couldn't generate enough offense against Branham's zone, shooting less than 30% for the game. Alli Von Borloeven had 13 to lead Branham.

Pinewood 67 St Ignatius 41. Pinewood is peaking at the right time and had an easy time of it from the get go. It hit 12 of 26 three pointers and got Ava Uhrich's usual dominance (17 pts, 13 rbs) on the inside.

Palo Alto 68 SHC 51. Definitely the biggest surprise of the day. But maybe it shouldn't have been. Paly knocked off SHC in last year's open as well. Sr. Itzel Torres had a career game with 22pts 11 boards. Vienne Sheng hit for 19, including 5 threes. And Kaella Peters added 16. Paly's win throws their pool wide open, with their game against Pinewood on Monday taking on added importance

I dont understand how if u commit to play for a team you leave early to play for another sport. If I'm the other coach (volleyball) I'm telling her to finish her basketball season 1st. If I'm a college coach/recruiter I tell her the same thing...honor your commitment.
Same thing happened to Sequoia. Their leading scorer, Hall is off at a Volleyball tournament. They edged out an OT win against Milpitas last night.

Club volleyball coaches make their living coaching -- it's all business for them, and any kind of courtesy to other sports and other coaches doesn't enter their minds.

Mitty must have brought up two 6 footers from their JV team to make ten. The 12 player roster that the Monarchs have had the entire season had 8 plus 4 shorter guards. Also, Belle Bramer, a 6-1 JR PF transfer from Los Gatos, never played this season so they actually have 7 with the return of Morgan Cheli.

There were definitely a couple of large, new faces who played. Presumably callups. Plus the transfer. Mitty rarely missed, but when it did, it inhaled every rebound.

It's not just the height and length though. It's overwhelming skill; Cheli, in particular. Plus, Mitty's bench allows it to sub in a whole talented squad when the opposition, typically 3-5 deep, is already exhausted.

I would be very surprised to see any sort of competitive game against Mitty in CCS Open.

When you face them with a roster where nobody is a 6 footer, it might as well be 12. Branham has a 6'5 kid and tomorrow night will probably feel like 12 to them too
