This year looks to be the most competitive Open yet. Bellarmine seems to be the clear favorite but I think any team can win multiple games this year.
My prediction is:

1. Bellarmine- class of th WCAL, WoJo, stubblefiels and good supporting cast
2. Palo Alto- flying under the radar and played Salesian tough
3. St. Francis- Logan Johnson, 3pt specialist, decent big
4. Menlo- D1 guard, solid post play
5. SI- trio of experienced guards, need others to step up
6. Sequoia- undefeated in league
7. Mitty- playing best basketball at right time. Grigsby coming on strong
8. Piedmont hills- ?

Tried to not have WCAL teams meet in first round. I do think Mitty will overtake Serra and slip into open. They are playing much better basketball right now.

That's a strong list. Menlo, which beat Paly in December on a neutral floor, might be a bit low at this point. If Mills beats Sequoia Feb. 13, PAL South leans toward Millbrae. Nice job.

Bellarmine, Paly, Sequoia and Piedmont cant all be in. Only 3 from a division.

So I really like your lineup but sub out Piedmont because they lost to sequoia (and Leland last week) and add in Serra. Serra should not be in D-2. Where Mills should stay D-3 and give SHC and Riordan a run.

Sounds quite reasonable.

Top 5 teams from WCAL go to open. I think that was in the new bylaws was put into place last year. Two WCAL school will have to play each other in the first round like last year (Serra vs Mitty). It looks like the race in the WCAL is who gets fifth spot (Riordan, SHC and Serra) All separated by 1 game

Thanks for clarifying. Forgot about 4 teams from one division. Also, didn’t know they are allowing a 5th WCAL team
