I believe they are overlooked because they're a D4/D5 program that has largely lived in the shadow of Placer, Colfax and Bear River's accomplishments since joining the PVL in 2010. Specifically Placer, as they're 2-9 against them since 2010 (3-15 all-time).
Placer and Bear River have been responsible for knocking them out of the postseason the past 3 seasons.
They've never won a section title and have reached a Final
only one time (1988) only twice (1988, 2017). But that could very well change this postseason.
Their 10 wins match the most in the program's 26 season history. The Cougars also won 10 games in 1988, 1995, and 2012.
It's actually an amazing turnaround considering all the coaching drama that took place circa 2006 through 2008. Digol J'Beily regained the HC position in 2008 and they finally started showing some progress in 2012.
The Cougars have posted a 64-31 record since the start of the 2012 season and are about to make their 9th consecutive playoff appearance.
Not bad for a little 'ol program from Antelope.
**CORRECTION** Center also reached a Final in 2017 against Placer. I mistakenly thought it was a semifinal. Some of these divisional brackets have a quarterfinal (4 rounds) and some only have 3 rounds. I got confused.
