Really, D2 school that far way in Georgia? No Division 1 offers at all? I'm pretty sure Sac State would have taken him in a heartbeat. Maybe he didn't want to stay home, must have wanted to get away for college experience and not play where his dad played.

Congrats to Drew! Really enjoyed watching him play. Wish he would have been full strength in the NorCal finals.

I think sometimes kids want to get away and see a different part of the country. Basketball can be a tool for that adventure.

I really enjoyed watching him play. He is a tough gritty guard who plays big. But it does go to show you how competitive it is out there.

Lots of factors involved here. First of all it just goes to show you how hard it is to land a D1 offer. Here's a very good kid on and off the basketball court , all city selection , 3.8 gpa , help guide his team to a NorCal open final and 30-4 record. Unfortunate he had strept throat and couldn't go in the final. He had a Sac state offer in like October but didn't take it and it went off the board. From what I know he had Cal State Dominguez and UC San Diego offer. At Sheldon because of the make up of the team Drew ended up playing more of 3-4 than his natural position of PG and maybe that hurt recruiting some I don't know. From what I hear he was told he will start at point guard right away and at 6-3 He'll be a bitch to guard. He has a brother and sister already going to school in Georgia. Good for him I wish him well.

@basketba11
Also Dad was on the team at Sac St in 88-89 season but never played .

HEAT- Couldn't agree more. I would watch him in warm ups and the kid was always working on his game. Good for him. Sorry but I'm not going to Sac state. Don't even go there. This school has great facilities and looks like they are coming off a tough season but have recent 20 win seasons in their portfolio.

Hard to turn down UCSD though.... La Jolla man!

Yah San Diego would be tough to turn down but your right West Georgia has great facilities vs a D1 Sac state that plays in a high school gym. Also Another PG ty Roberts just signed at San Diego which could make Drew play the 3 again whereas WG promised he would play PG there.

A fine player Cobb is. I was impressed with his ability to rebound and defend. Offensively his game will improve but its hard to teach the other stuff this kid does well.

If West Georgia told that kid he will play PG they flat out lied to him. I personally do not believe they said that. He is not a PG and will never be one. He is a great player/athlete that can defend multiple positions

NS- Getting a player like Cobb at a school like West Georgia is a huge win. They probably told him anything and the kid is very multi dimensional. I'm not saying he's a true PG but a very good combo guard. I really liked Sheldon last year and Cobb was one of the main reasons. He will play immediately.
