Nice group of teams. Is this tournament style or daily match-ups.

Wanted to check out Acalanes after I read so much about them after their NCS D2 championship run last season. They are obviously well coached, move the ball well and play good defense. They are not real physical and I could see a more mature team giving them some problems inside BUT they do have some ability and skills and can shoot the rock. I like the way they play.

They will play the winner of the next game between SHC and SRV so that will be a good test. I'm hoping it's against SRV!

As an often wrong board participant said just last month in the "WAY WAY TOO EARLY TOP FIVE" thread, SHC should finish second in the WCAL.
As a parent of a senior on this squad, I wanted to believe you. I just didn't have the evidence to go there. I'm starting to believe this can be a great year though

Acalanes over Marin Catholic for 3rd place, 75-66

SHC vs Central East (Fresno) for Championship to follow.

Maxwell from Central East was unstoppable inside in all 3 games played (SI, MC and SH). Averaged over 24 ppg. Really impressive shooting and range displayed by SH, San Ramon and Acalanes players. Great effort by all the teams.

Reza Po was named Tournament MVP
IMO, Inez Gallegos was the actual MVP for SHC. Averaged over 15 points and was asked to guard both Vail of Acalanes and Maxwell of Central. Po is very clearly coaches favorite player.

Not taking anything away from Reza but without Inez, this team may not have even been in the winners bracket, let alone champs.

Wow.......Can you just leave it as a young team that had alot of growing pains as freshmen, gelling together early in this promising season and learning how to win? What a totally subjective comment that does nothing but cast a jealous shadow.

You think Po and Gallegos are jawing at each other about who's the better player or who's more valuable to the team? F no... They are kids enjoying team success after a really bad year last year. I suggest you do the same and root for the name on the front of the jersey.

The nice thing is we're all entitled to our opinions. However wrong they may be. Have a great day!

I don’t remember which thread but I remember some chatter of coach Jackson being in over his head last year. He coaches with swag and the players play to the identity of their coach. Almost like it takes time to build a program and an identity.

There is definitely an adjustment period from Russell to Jackson. There was a seismic shift the last few years with Watkins building what hes building over at Riordan and SI's recent success all due to players that "normally" funneling to SH, instead going to the other two schools. Looks like year 2 of the rebuild is following the imagined plan.

The ideal "trust the process" would be to pull another I'Imari Thomas the next year or so. So far so good for this season. Team looks good.

They have an ideal trio. 3 really good high school players. A great ball handler guard/shooter , a long athletic wing that gets to the rim and can guard anyone, and their 2 guard knocks down 3s and can score and be a secondary ball handler. Love their team and coach

I'll be the first to admit his improvement from year 1 to year 2 has been impressive. More creative offensively and with inbound plays. Really sticking to his 7 to 8 player rotations and allowing those players to play to their strengths. They still have a senior slasher working her way back from ACL year that she suffered in last years LadyCat Classic. This team can be very good this year if this keeps up

Where did the Sawyer twins end up leaving to?

The twins are in team sweats before game. So maybe they're on the roster but required to sit out until January?
Sitting out seems odd unless they are both injured. They were on the team last year. Certain transfers are required to sit out (i am not 100% on these transfer rules). They are not even listed on the school athletic site as on the roster but if they are on the bench I guess they are still on the team/at the school.

I heard they ended up at Salesian but the roster on MaxPreps doesn't reflect that. SHC travels to Richmond tomorrow so we'll find out then
They are the younger siblings of graduated Salesian stud Tejon Sawyer. I thought perhaps they had left to play at Salesian but I cant confirm anything.

I was told after the game they are being required to sit out the entire year. I'm not sure if that is SHC's doing or something else but doesn't sound like they'll be playing this year for Salesian.
