Question - are HS level tournaments occurring at Courtside and Hardwood currently? With many schools in the area just allowing zero contact conditioning, HS affiliated teams participating in tournaments seem to contradict what the locals districts are allowing. Just curious, the Hardwood website says:

The California of Public Health has asked for suspension and postponement of any event with the gathering of over 250 people. This policy will be in effect until further notice. We will re-evaluate as we receive information. We appreciate your support and look forward to serving you.

LOL well is there a difference from playing at courtside or Arizona or Utah???

No. Not really. Except there are more people in stands in AZ and Utah...if things are to continue... temp checks. Face masks. Social distancing and a little common sense..But let them play. If they can..

They are playing tourneys almost every weekend up there in Rocklin and despite the posted signs asking for facemasks to be worn at all times, there is a substantial number of people NOT following through on that and absolutely NO enforcement. Makes ya shake your head!

Hate to say I told ya so, but....... smdh!

How this place has continued to stay open and host events is BEYOND ME!!! So frustrating and the scene there on any given weekend is highly irresponsible and someone should be held liable. This is THE EXACT reason we can’t get to a better place numbers-wise with Covid and why HS sports are on the ropes in danger of not happening.

Jumping on Courtside tournament decisions? Tournaments, showcases , open runs going on everywhere in the Bay Area ...guys who run high school showcases putting them on and being covered...these highlights you see are current.

If I remember correctly Placer County was one where the health officials and sheriff dept said they will not enforce anything the govenor suggests or mandates.

Gonzaga played Kansas last night. This morning 2 players from Gonzaga tested positive and were ruled out of the game this morning versus Auburn. So shouldn't today's game be canceled?
Didn't all of Gonzaga and Kansas get exposed?
Also this happened before tip and stupid me thought Auburn would now win as the dog and I put 50.00 on it. Halftime score 49-35. Craps table here i come to win it back.

Here's the crazy thing about the post the county made. They said that they advised Courtside to not operate and that they are advising that the public not attend their programs. This means that they either will not or cannot shut down what is going on.

They surely can shut it down or hand out a fine.

The sad part is they continue to put a dollar over the health well being of others and prospect of having a HS sports season and then disguise it as “oh we want to give these kids an outlet to play and be recruited.” Yeah OK, 🙄.

Regardless, we can debate that part all we want, but my larger beef is if they are gonna host events in such a confined space, they could at least enforce people wear masks. That is DEFINITELY not happening and which is why as a result you get an outbreak.

Renard....good post. Unfortunately this isn't happening anywhere. Complete lack of concern for the overall health and longevity of the sport and athletes. Arizona and utah tournaments are a joke!!! Tons of people no distancing and there is only a concern for the bottom line of these tournament directors and the facilities that host them. Look, at the rate this has now spread, the HS season is officially toast and aau and showcase leagues are right behind because of the genuine lack of concern for the greater good.

I want these kids out there more than anyone, but again I think the attitude of gratitude and all the others are being short sighted.

And let's be honest most college recruiters that I have spoken to and know have indicated they aren't actively recruiting. Yes, they may be taking an interest in players but with programs in financial stress, extended eligibility and juco transfers there are not a lot of spots open and scholarship money available. So why all the "showcases and tournaments.... It's simple. $$$$

Yes, I know there are some truly altruistic groups and trainers out here helping get kids looks and exposure and I know we all need to eat and make a living ...(much respect to you all) but the vast majority are not in this with the kids in mind, they are there for the tournament $$$. Be honest with yourselves.

This is a good post. There are some out there who are trying their best to help kids and provide a safe enviroment and there will be high schools that would do the same given the chance. However, there are organizations who aren't prioritizing the right thing and creating issues like what happened here. And it is those events that are making a high school season less likely which is sad

Tough Times to live through right now! Tough decisions and change of behavior is important. I will say I do not like it but I also do not want to be hypocritical. I just recently attended my sons first college games in which I also had to travel. I did all I could to be as safe as possible but I still took a risk . My son actually contracted the virus and went through it. I operate a free Covid-19 testing site and still went to see my son for Thanksgiving and his games and in actuality I should not have traveled at all. I was pretty much Gavin Newsome by not practicing what I preach. I am quarantining for the next 14 days and will get tested twice before coming back in the public...but your post is spot on.

The Difference between you Renard and Newsome/London Breed is that they are public figures. They are technically the faces of our city and state. So for them to go to a dinner after scolding people not too, is horrible, and IMO both should face some sort of punishment. But probably wont.

What YOU did was 100% ok. Travelling to watch your son play in his first college basketball games? Sorry but to me you can fly to any games you want too.

I respect the rules. I wear my mask. I keep my distance, and I have dined outdoors at a restaurant once (Mom's Bday) since this all started. But the death rates from Covid are so low. Like literally Flu-Level Zone level death rates. I am of the mindset that I think we should get back to normal. People get sick and live, people get sick and die. That's the circle of life. We all get our sports back. The Kids get to go back to in person teaching. And highschool/college sports get to play the seasons they have worked years to build.

I will conclude by saying this. More kids will die from depression than from Covid after this past year. If you look at statistics more kids are failing now than ever before because they can't get in person teaching. If you're a special ed student the amount of F's has doubled. So think to yourself this. Is it worth it? Over something that is essentially THE FLU?

All the sudden you calling it Covid I see. Don't be fake. Keep that same energy you had last week.
Either way dining outside is not against the rules so the governor and mayor did not do anything wrong. For the record the professionals say traveling is worse than dining outdoors.
