Nice crowd here for the finale. South has won the first two boys games today.

Good start to this one. Chino Hills leads 10-9 with 317 left Q1. Las Lomas has just one field goal (Nathan Robinson 3 pointer)

CH has Ball faceguarding Holman bigtime. They don’t want him to get the rock at ALL.

On offense, CH is taking advantage of LL’s double team on Okongwu... This has blowout potential. :(

Chino Hills took over to end the period. On a 13-0 run to take a 23-9 lead end Q1. Lot of easy points for Huskies during that run

Goodness, Chino Hills looks awesome tonight. Four players have all the points (between 7 and 11) and they have shut down Las Lomas' offense. Lead 34-12 with 553 left in the first half

So does competitive equity have a solution for the North always getting their ass kicked by the South...

Down by as many as 22 points, Las Lomas trails Chino Hills 44-29 at halftime. At least gives themselves a chance with a strong start in Q3.

Chino Hills leads 54-40 with 355 left. Nathan Robinson just picked up his fourth foul

LL made a nice run for awhile there, got with 10, I think... But now it’s 14

Chino Hills leads Las Lomas 57-48 end Q3. Okongwu has four fouls for Chino Hills

Foul issues stacking up for both teams. Devin Payne has already fouled out for LL.

Chino Hills leads Las Lomas 60-52 with 543 left.

Okongwu has fouled out for Chino Hills, which leads Las Lomas 64-56 with 350 left. Going to be interesting to close out here

Chino Hills wins its second state title in 3 years with a 73-68 win over Las Lomas. Fun game to end the night

I feel like if Las Lomas had just played a better 1st quarter they could have won that game.

That 1st quarter barrage by Chino is what won them the game. Usually they say you can’t win a game in the 1st quarter, but you can lose one. Lomas lost this one because of a poor start.

Still an amazing season for Las Lomas. Those boys should be proud!

Great season for Las lomas but this whole competitive equity mess will just kill
norcal in these state final games.I don' think Las lomas would have had a problem
being crowned d2 state champs had they been placed in there enrollment division.

I respectfully disagree. I think if Las Lomas had faced the D2 champ Crossroads, they still would have lost the game. Las Lomas is a great team, but when you face a team that has a 6'8-6'9 kid and your tallest kid is 6'4-6'5, your going to have problems. Especially if that kid is as athletically gifted as O'Neal and the 5-star kid from Chino Hills.

Honestly, even though Norcal has gotten it handed to them, this State Finals has been pretty solid.

I saw a graphic that Las Lomas was 5 - 27 from 3 point line which isn't good enough to beat Chino. I thought the refs blew their whistles too much and ruined the flow of the game. It seemed like LL got shafted by officials but that's probably just my bias.

That’s what officials have done in Regional Finals and State Championship Games forever. These are the Big Ego guys that get selected. No surprise there. The whistles went both ways. The other thing that was no surprise is that a perimeter shooting team shot poorly. Happens every year in the big arena. That needs to be planned for. There was no adjustment. Chino Hills shot 0-4 from 3pt line because they knew what their strength was and had a game plan. Period. Las Lomas didn’t really adjust in my eyes. They had a WEEK to prepare for this team and I didn’t see anything different. For starters, Why not get the big guy out of the lane via a pick/roll to open up driving lanes? Something. Anything that would suggest a game plan. At what point as a coach do you say “Hmmm shots aren’t falling, we need to get to the rim?” Defensively they did go to a zone (albeit too late).

Interesting!
