D1 NorCal Rep in State Game

yes, but Central will get the D1AA bid vs. either Folsom or the Serra VC winner

Are Serra or VC in the same division as Folsom i.e. going to D1 State Game?

A couple of things to understand:

1. There are two D-I divisions for the state playoffs. There's D-IA and D-IAA (D-IAA is the higher of the two).
2. There are no fixed divisions. The D-IAA or D-IA participants are simply the #2 and 3 (D-IAA) or #4 and 5 (D-IA) teams from each region (NorCal or SoCal). If a D-II team is considered better than a D-I team, then the D-II team will be placed in a higher division.

As such, can either Serra or Valley Christian be chosen to compete against Folsom in D-IAA? Absolutely. Bellarmine did that (and won) a few years ago. It will be an interesting choice if there are three undefeated options for the two D-IAA slots. If Serra and VC split their games (assuming they meet in the playoffs), then the CCS D-I champ will almost certainly go to D-IA.

Serra's QB getting hurt does cast an interesting shadow on the top CCS team's placement, though.

Who are the 3 that could possibly all be undefeated options at decision time?

Actually, Central of Fresno is the highest rated NorCal team after DLS gets the open bid. They'll win their D1 section and get the D1AA bid vs. either Folsom or the Serra/ VC Open 1 section winner.

Most likely Folsom.

The CCS Open 1 winner that would probably be Serra/VC will likely play the SJS D2 winner in the D1-A NorCal game, are there other outcomes? Sure. Mac is in the discussion with how high their rating is....But committees make the decisions.

Most likely Folsom
Folsom has beaten Central 2 years in a row in the D1AA game. 84-46 last year, and 54-35 in 2017. I'm guessing the CIF will mix things up this year. Possible send Central south.

Doubt it, Folsom isn't the same team. They're rated higher than Folsom on Calpreps. Hard to justify that.

Central is rated higher on Calpreps, but lower on Cal-Hi. The voters have gone against either and both at various times.

Central won't be sent south, that is for certain. At worst, they'd be placed in the D-IA game. That is not without precedent, as the SJS D-II winner (Del Oro) beat Bakersfield in that game a few years ago.

All three teams could have strong arguments. If either Serra or VC sweep two games against the other, their rating is going to jump pretty high. Serra, at the least, would move into the national top 100 on Calpreps. They could conceivably most past Folsom on Calpreps, but I would be very surprised if the voters would pit the Padres against Central and move Folsom down to D-IA even if that were to occur.
