North looking for its first boys win. PV was underseeded being D3, so it could be good news for local fans

I like PV to get this one... Just hope I haven’t given the kiss of death here...

PV leads 12-7 with 315 left Q1. Vikings are 5-for-7 from the field. Kevin Kremer has been involved in three of the five field goals.

Pleasant Valley leads Notre Dame 18-13. Four players have scored for the Vikings. Schneringer and Rick each have six points for PV

Pleasant Valley is legit - how they got seeded in D3 is beyond me but best bet for NorCal Boys to win a state championship.

Pleasant Valley leads 24-21 with 409 left in the half. Very good ball and player movement for the Vikings has Notre Dame on its heels

That's how the North wins titles I think. Getting a team underseeded. West Campus on girls side was the same way.

Dondre Bausley has three fouls for Notre Dame. He has a team high 12 points

Big 3rd foul on #24 Bausley of Notre Dame puts him on bench... Dude has been a pain.

Pleasant Valley leads Notre Dame 32-28 at halftime. Vikings are shooting 48 percent and have assisted on 8 of 14 baskets

This is my first PV game in the flesh... I have seen a couple games of theirs online and been highly impressed. And they’re living up to the hype thus far. Team ball like this is fun as heck to watch.

Fun game for the D3 title. Pleasant Valley leads 45-41 with 308 left in Q3. Kevin Kremer playing really well on this stage

45-41 PV at the media break... like Rocky and Appollo Creed slugging it out, one great play after another

Pleasant Valley leads 55-51 with 507 left Q4. Good shot making on both sides

Isn’t it something similar in SoCal?

I recall Justin Ford/Folsom losing to St. John Bosco featuring Daniel Hamilton and Tyler Dorsey.....Bosco lost in the open sections and went into the D-2 regionals.....after playing MAJOR Heavyweights in the sectionals.

Bausley has fouled out for Notre Dame, which trails PV 59-53 with 343 left

Didn't have competitive equity on state level back then but yes some similarities. Southern Section's goal was to win Open, D1 and D2 and tried to game it that way

PV holding onto a 61-55 lead with 118 left. Vikings have struggled this quarter but have been aided by numerous questionable shots by Notre Dame

Pleasant Valley wins 70-65. Kremer had 28 points, 13 rebounds and five assists

So a D1 school with 2000 students won a D3 title against a school with 500 students?

Private school so throw the enrollment numbers out the window - check out Sierra Canyon. Technically PV is D2 size from what I've heard.

Streak you can't be more wrong. As for PV boys , they are D3 in the North Section. Irregardless of there size, they have never even won a Nor-Cal title title, and have barely made inroads into the post season in many years. To categorize it as such is ridiculous.

As for your other statement about titles won in the North Section. Any other boys titles won in the North Section has been won by extremely small schools. Colusa in 1990 and Central Valley in 1989.

By the way, please fix the article on the front page of the web site to include Central Valley. It was left out of the P.V. boys article.

Here's wishing you great hoops

Enterprise boys lost in 1998 D3 title game to Luke Walton led University of San Diego, yes I know they didn't win but another example of boys team from northern section that won a northern title. And yeah I have to add this was enrollment based lol

Thank you for the correction on Central Valley being the third team. They won D3 and Colusa won D5.

Onto your other point, the division a team plays in their section has NO bearing anymore with competitive equity. Because D3 in the NS is different than the SJS, NCS, CCS and vice versa. My statement is that I don't think there are 40 better teams in NorCal as the seedings suggest. My point was when a team like PV or West Campus on the girls side is placed in a division that is under their "true talent" it gives NorCal a fighting chance. If this doesn't happen, NorCal will have tough sledding under the current format. That in no way diminishes PV's accomplishment.
