Just in fun...but, there are a few games I would like to see next year. DLS/Folsom,Grant/LBP,St.Mary's/SHP,
GraniteBay/Elk Grove, to name a few. What are some of the matchups you would look forward to seeing in 2015?

SHP will be run-of-the-mill again with BBK graduating. Folsom has a LOT of seniors graduating as well, I think they're going to have a tough time making it back to the regionals. With the talent coming back DLS is a lock to run the table and get the Open bid (or top seed with whatever format they go with next year). One team I'd keep an eye out on is Bellarmine - they surprised a lot of people this year and over half of the team were underclassmen.

I wud like to see Vacaville vs. these teams-Pittsburg, San Ramon Valley, Milpitas, Serra, Palo Alto, Oak Grove, Edison-Fresno, Helix.

Del Oro opens at Bosco and it will be 56-7 but it's good to play against top notch competition. Builds character.
Bahhahaha. I would like to see them schedule realistic games.

LL, you know I like ya and we agree on a lot of things, but I just don't understand comments and criticism such as this.

First, most programs of Del Oro's stature are often criticized for scheduling too lightly (e.g. Folsom the past several years). Here you have a program striving to challenge themselves yet people are still critical? Overscheduling, as some call it, didn't seem to hurt the Golden Eagles in 2012 or 2013 when they fielded teams that weren't top notch when compared to other teams from their history yet they managed to greatly overachieve.

Secondly, playing a program such as DLS is not unrealistic. The Spartans have to schedule 9 or 10 games don't they? And they only play one or two against what is considered an elite program. That leaves 8 or so games to fill. Is San Ramon Valley, California, Foothill, Amador Valley, etc somehow more realistic? Fact is, DLS has to play several games against NorCal opposition and Del Oro is as worthy as any program you can name -- regardless if they get humbled like most do.

Lastly, by playing an ambitious schedule, they not only prepare themselves for one of the toughest leagues in the State, they set the stage to really know how good a team they have during a season in which they are really, really good. For example, what if Folsom had scheduled like Del Oro did this season and still ran the table? If and when Del Oro has a similarly capable team, there will be no doubt just how good they really are. That's all they and anyone else really wants to know.

Why would you want to see DLS score 100 pts vs Folsom, they won't even have overrated Browning running for his life for four quarters.

Why do people continue to get on here and disrespect a 17 or 18 year old young man. OK I get your point about DLS maybe scoring 100 pts on Folsom but why bring up a young man that only goes out there and plays who his adult coaches puts in front of him. You would be hard pressed to put any QB out there including a DLS one against the same competition and put up the records and stats that Browning did. And by the way I am far from a Folsom supporter but I am a supporter of the 1000s of young men that go out and play this game. Has anyone heard or seen Browning on here commenting on this board? Leave the kids out of it. I think your "overrated" comment is absurd and idiotic!!!

Thunder- I'm going to disagree a little with you. I don't think Del Oro did themselves any favors at all over scheduling. It's one thing to schedule some challenges and another thing to get their brains beat in. The team they had this year wasn't ready for that. A team can only peak so many times and they didn't allow themselves the opportunity to recover and recuperate.

So what about the season before? They won section, region, and made an appearance at State doing the exact same thing.

The criticism is utterly ridiculous.

They were much stronger the year before and their schedule was much tougher this year. Sorry, I respect your knowledge but that doesn't add up. You always want to challenge yourself. That said, they didn't match up well and it certainly didn't make them Any tougher for the playoffs. Conversely, they almost missed. Just my opinion.

Well, we obviously have polar opposite opinions on this. No biggie.

To be clear, I wasn't referring directly to you when I said the criticism is ridiculous. I know you were simply commenting on the thread, as was I. I was referring more to the numerous comments I've read in various threads over the past 6 months or so.

Don't worry, I've been smacked around harder

. You are much closer to the situation so my questions would be did they suffer with injuries and depth? Seems like they beat who they should have beat and lost to who they should have lost.

I was being a bit harsh but I tend to side with NCSF on this as well. Maybe not the year. Next year could be different. Aren't they returning a big percentage?

Hatchball - simple question: are you familiar with SHP's roster? What this small prep school did with 300 boys to win the CCS open Division with an under-sized team is simply amazing. While BBK is an exceptional player I do believe you are giving him sole credit for SHP's accomplishments. I've seen the comments during the season that SHP is not the same team without BBK - which is true, but they still won every game he did not play in. My take is they have an amazing system in place with exceptional coaching at a different level for HS.
In regards to your statement they will be "run-of-the mill" they hav a roster of 46 players this season and return 30 including their QB and almost all the other skill players. SHP may not win Open next season, but will hardly be "run-of-the-mill" IMO.

Rmbr, yep amazing right up there with Palma of 2000 and 2001's D1 crowns. They are much more than just BKK and will be a good team next year but probably not at the same level as this year's. QB and top two receivers are back but most of the big contributors on defense will not be
