G61: "You just said, "If I show you the names of all 250 or so of 8th graders who are coming to DLS in the fall"
I think I made my point right there. What public school has 250 incoming students, intending on going out for football. Division 1 private schools with 2k plus kids do not even have this many kids coming out for football. Now, all 250 will not be studs as juniors and seniors, but to me, that is the pick of the litter. Nobody else gets to pick and chose from such a vast array of kids. That is just crazy!
You homers get on here and act like DLS just picks up scrubs off the streets and turns them into NFL prospects with their teachings of technique and heart. You can't win without the best players...Coaching or not. Coaching helps get the best out of players, but you still cannot win without players...
And by the looks of it, DLS has it's fair share of players to choose from...about 250"

Youre either playing stupid or you really are. The entire frosh class will consist of about 250 students (currently eigth graders). Of that, typically, 35-40 will try out for football.
My question remains: Out of the 250 names, can you tell me which ones will still be playing in their Jr & Sr years? And also ID which ones will be the studs? Ought be easy since DLS gets all the raw talent.
(Never mind that over 90% of DLS players NEVER have any organized tackle FB experience prior to arriving on campus.) Actually, in Calif., the organized tackle football opportunity (pre HS) really pales in comparison to states like Wash, Tx, Fla, Tn, Al, Ga, Ohio, and quite a few others that have organized school leagues for both public and pvt, starting around 4th grade.
DLS results over the past 30+ yrs are due to the staff and its traditions.
BTW, what is Folsoms record in their past 30 or so yrs for their EOY games??
