Every team has only one EOY game every season. Whether they win em all or lose all. Or any combo thereof. Some teams could go 1-9, 2-8, but win their final game, and not make playoffs.

Starting in 1982, DLS has been in playoffs EVERY year. Thats 33 consecutive years. The amazing stat is that they have won 26 of those 33 games! Thats a .820 winning average.

26 - 7 in EOY games! Chomp on that for a bit, Mr G61.

Next year DLS might go wire-to-wire atop the national polls. A game vs Allen would be huge on so many levels, especially since elite CA vs elite TX games just don't happen.

Not really the match up I'd want to see. Allen losing alot (including Murray). Not really a win for DLS IMO. Much rather see Desoto or Chill.

That's what the Texans are saying, but Allen returns 15 starters from an MNC team including a5* OL (#1 rated OL in country) -- A&M commit and a 4* DB.

I don't think it's Allen, but that's the game I'd like

If not Allen, I'd like Katy or Trinity

I can't imagine that DLS is going to Texas to play (ie) Manvel or Cibolo Steele, even though both are expected to be strong next year -- I'd guess it's one of the Big3 names in TX football (or maybe 4-6 including Desoto, SLC, and Skyline)

I think the most amazing stat I've read was the 42 points that CC scored was the most given up by DLS since 1979. Think about that. Although I think CC could have hung 50 + on them if they took care of ball in 2nd half. Next year team will be scary.

According the Dallas Jackson, DLS is in talks with another OOS opponent to go along with the Texas game. What I'm more curious about is who they schedule inside NorCal. The DO, Bells/Serra, and Servite series are over. They have a return game against Jesuit I believe.

If they are trying to put together an incredible schedule, I would say they should go with grant, folsom should drop off and the upside is just there for grant like no other sjs team. Grant may just have another good year but it could be a year where they are outstanding and I would say their chances to have those years are higher than anyone elses. Also no matter what grant is gonna be fast and strong and big every year even if they arent the best team execution wise they bring that aspect to the game.

De La Salle will not be playing Allen next year. Allen is playing a team from Florida next year. I believe De La Salle owes a trip to South Carolina to play Byrnes for the second match up for the home and home game series.

Jig, I hope youre correct, but Ive heard that the Byrnes affair was a 'one and done' deal, comped by outside money.
It would be personally terrific for me if they do make the jaunt to Byrnes.

Northern- do you think execution might be important?

I love what Grant stands for regarding the community pride. That said, if Coach A is going to stick around, she should be more of a delegator like Bobby Bowden was in the end and get 4-5 coaches who are top notch. Let's put it this way- If Grant and Folsom swapped coaches, who do you think wins?

Ditto on that point.......the question was put to the AD following the Byrnes game and that was his response at that time.

Folsom might not be as good as they were this season, but I would expect them to still be one of the best if not the best teamin the SJS along with Grant. Think someone said their underclass teams were pretty dominant, maybe their JV's lost 1 game. With the Open regional gone, DLS should be playing a game with one of them (I really hope). As it relates to the Pacers, I would love to see them match up with Pittsburg. Think it would be a fantastic game, Pitt has some ballers coming back next season who will be playing at the next level. DLS has played a WCAL school every year since 1998, so it would be shocking not to see one on the schedule, the question is which one will it be. Doubt it would be one of the city schools or Mitty with a new coach, so VC/Bells/Serra/SF? I'm also not sure if the series with Logan is continuing or not, can't remember if it was a 4 year series, but I'm hoping it's over.

I think it is the key to winning but that said no matter what grant gives you speed and phisicality and usually toughness every year regardless if they are 8-4 or 14-0. That is big for a team like DLS who knows that if they take care of business they will see a team with the same kind of team speed and strength. Lets put it this way if your Oregon and getting ready for the Pac 12 who do you wanna play, a Miami team that executes really well but just doesnt have the complete team speed and athletes or Florida team who doesnt excute as well but is going to make you defend sideline to sideline and have defenders that that are bigger faster stronger than your offensive players and going to make them work very hard in individual matchups. And i Completely agree with you as far as coach a going that rout, I saw grant at paradise in what was a "down" year for them yet after watching teams all over the state that year all i could think about was how much more talent speed and size grant had than anyone else I saw.

DLS is a great program, but I really don't think private schools should boast as much as they do. DLS has the run of the mill in the East Bay. They can take any player they want. If DLS had to stay within the constraints of the same rules of the public schools they would be a mediocre program. Put DLS on a map and draw a mile circle that's what they would get for players. DLS you're a great program, but some of us can see past the BS glory you tout, Without the size and speed that veer goes nowhere!

cappyjohnson,
That was one of the most honest posts I have seen on here, despite a "sea of DLS homers." It is a taboo subject for them to talk about getting they're pick of the litter when it comes to players. They do not have the same constraints as public schools do. They are SUPPOSED to win!

Hey, 61- -If I show you the names of all 250 or so of 8th graders who are coming to DLS in the fall, can you pick out which ones will even be on the football team as juniors and seniors? Moreover, can you tell me which ones will be the studs in four yrs??

If DLS recruits, and does indeed get "all the talent" this ought be an easy exercise for someone so sure of himself as you are.

Your lack of sports and football knowledge is apparent with each worthless post you make.

I am going to ignore mtnjohn from now on since he cannot seem to figure out proper grammar...

You just said, "If I show you the names of all 250 or so of 8th graders who are coming to DLS in the fall"

I think I made my point right there. What public school has 250 incoming students, intending on going out for football. Division 1 private schools with 2k plus kids do not even have this many kids coming out for football. Now, all 250 will not be studs as juniors and seniors, but to me, that is the pick of the litter. Nobody else gets to pick and chose from such a vast array of kids. That is just crazy!

You homers get on here and act like DLS just picks up scrubs off the streets and turns them into NFL prospects with their teachings of technique and heart. You can't win without the best players...Coaching or not. Coaching helps get the best out of players, but you still cannot win without players...

And by the looks of it, DLS has it's fair share of players to choose from...about 250

Mtnjohn might have a grammar problem but you have a reading comprehension problem. DLS has 250 students that make up the whole freshman class- not the amount of frosh players.

I think you have a problem comprehending data...

DLS is a football school. At least 75 percent of those kids will most likely go out for the football team.

After all... That is what taking BART to school is for right?

mtnjohn and NCSF= BIGGEST DLS HOMERS

What can we expect from unemployed dude's in their 40's!?
uzi.r191677.gif

G- at least do your homework. Both DLS and Folsom had freshman rosters in the 40's. That means less than 20% of the freshman class play football. You are not even close.

Regarding age and employment in your other stupid post- I'm actually in my 50's and self-employed. I fired myself last week but re-hired myself and gave myself a raise. I love what I do and my exit plan is that I die. Probably won't happen any time soon as I can still bench over 1.5x my weight.

In your 50's and "self employed?" I am sure...

Baby boomer...LOL... Are you robbing social security/disability like everyone else? My tax dollars were probably spent sending your kid to high school. And you will be the same dad who will file for financial aid for your son in college.

But...What can you expect for a total homer like yourself...
wink.r191677.gif

G- Just living the dream in the bay and being a total homer. It doesn't get any better

Can't ONE school in No Cal beat DLS, please? Just one??? The last time any team from No Cal beat DLS ...these guys won a damn Grammy! Stop the excuses.

Idiot day at NCP

I think someone tied them (College Park?) a few years back. Does that count?

Didn't Rancho Cotati beat them!? I heard Rohnert Park produced some world class athletes
laugh.r191677.gif

Cardinal Newman may have beat them back in the day. You have to ask LL or the DLS guys though.

It was Clayton Valley that tied DLS, back before they became a charter school and Herc Pardi was coaching them. Pardi was also the coach at Pitt when DLS last lost an NCS championship back in 1991.

Thanks. I knew it was a school local to them that started with a C. Wasn't Upshaw hurt for the 91 finals? I just went to Pitts wiki page and it states that Upshaw "helped defeat" DLS.

Slick- I was at that game. Pitt came out in trips in the second half and out-schemed DLS. Pitt had a very good running back that I can't think of but I remember Upshaw escorting him down the field on a long game-winning touchdown. He was a standout on D for Cal after that And a nice eight year pro career.

Percy McGhee was that back. He went on to be one of the best RB in humboldt state history. Newman lost to Pitt in semis that year of 3A. Next week they beat DLS and the rest is history.

It certainly was. Kind of a poor man's Maurice Drew in the respect that he was short but strong and fast. That was quite a game. I think it was at DVC.

Youre either playing stupid or you really are. The entire frosh class will consist of about 250 students (currently eigth graders). Of that, typically, 35-40 will try out for football.
My question remains: Out of the 250 names, can you tell me which ones will still be playing in their Jr & Sr years? And also ID which ones will be the studs? Ought be easy since DLS gets all the raw talent.
(Never mind that over 90% of DLS players NEVER have any organized tackle FB experience prior to arriving on campus.) Actually, in Calif., the organized tackle football opportunity (pre HS) really pales in comparison to states like Wash, Tx, Fla, Tn, Al, Ga, Ohio, and quite a few others that have organized school leagues for both public and pvt, starting around 4th grade.

DLS results over the past 30+ yrs are due to the staff and its traditions.
BTW, what is Folsoms record in their past 30 or so yrs for their EOY games??

This post was edited on 1/4 9:46 AM by Plaindriver

It is NOT due to the staff in traditions. Those are contributors, but you cannot win those many games, over that long of a period, without TALENT.

STOP BEING A HOMER!!!! Yes, DLS is good. But, do not come on here and say they recruit a bunch of scrubs and coach them up into dynasty status. STOP IT!!!!
laugh.r191677.gif

G- The reality is that they don't recruit average kids. In fact, they don't recruit anybody at all. When Coach Lad was hired, the top programs in the area were San Ramon Valley and Monte Vista. You didn't go to DLS for football.

Once they got things rolling, that's when good athletes wanted to come. Why would you not want to be a part of the top program ever and coached by the best coach in HS football history? That kind of recruits itself- don't you think?

Finally, what you fail to understand is what they do and how they are about building young men on and off the field. It's not the wand, it's the magician. You can't understand it because you're not close to it. I don't profess to know everything about it because I'm truly an outsider looking in. That said, I know enough people who have been a big part to know what they are doing is special and unique. To reiterate- I'm far from a homer but a fan of greatness and uniqueness.
