Brent Brennan's successful 2020 season as San Jose State's head football coach has been well-documented. His salary has not been. USA Today reported that he makes $850,000 this season. Brennan is getting increasing mention as a possible choice to fill the vacant HC job at Arizona. If that were to occur, Brennan's bank account would nearly quadruple, based on USA Today's analysis which listed the pay for that post at $3.2 million. Money talks. Coaches listen.

Agree it’s a nice job to get your generational wealth payout, get fired after 3 years and become an analyst on TV

Money is hard to turn down, but Arizona is a tough place to win at given the current landscape.

Though that kind of money speaks loudly

SJSU is also a tough place to build a winner. I’d take the Arizona job without question, but of course not up to me.

There’s also the fact that the Spartans were 2-6 in conference last year. I’d take this momentum and land the best job possible.

San Jose State is a tough place to build a winner at, but the foundation has been laid if you beleive the success from this year.

Again, it is Pac-12 vs. MWC. I'm just saying that I've seen enough group of 5 coaches jump at the first power 5 job and then is fired 3/4 years later.

Agreed, it’s set up to win consistently at SJSU they got new training facilities almost done.....Brennan got the roots planted just wait it out and win a bit longer then take a real good P5 job that can win......like I said and track records have proven the Zona job is a 3-4 year bad job where u get paid but also are out of a job and his reputation isn’t good enough yet where he wound land another job, he’s have to get back to the grind

you are only as hot like this once. you gotta secure the bag now. sjsu or a mwc or wac job will always be there. 3.2 mill wont. you can get fired like sumlin and walk away with 20 million and still go get the job at sjsu again.

Definitely happy for SJSU, as I have many friends who went there, but I think Brent’s gotta cash in the chips. He went 2-11 and 1-11 his first two years there. Props to him for landing a Texas A&M QB and getting Fehoko away from the PAC-12, but I think this is the hottest his name will get.

Would be pumped if he built the Spartans into a perennial winner, though!

Last guy who cashed in at SJSU,Coach Macintyre, has now gotten fired from his last HC gig, then his next stint as a DC and now is still a DC at a mid major.....so taking a real mediocre gig at Arizona and getting fired 3-4 years later he’s not guaranteed to just jump back in and get another HC gig.......no doubt he’s hot as he will probably be now, but is the Zona gig the one ? Zona has a seriously critical lack of P5 talent on that roster that is a huge rebuild

I see no reason at all they can’t be a consistent winner at SJSU they have done the real dirty work with laying roots recruiting wise and shown they can develop players which is paying dividends now...........they got new training facilities almost done........the transfer market is going to be flooded with good QBs and player without sitting out a year, so I see zero reason why they can’t be a consistent bowl team in the MWC like Nevada, Fresno, Hawaii, SDSU especially since u are in the center of fertile recruiting grounds unlike Nevada, New Mexico, Wyoming, Boise, Colorado St, etc

MacIntyre got a $10.3 million buyout in addition to his salary for actually coaching the Buffs. Nice deal!
