how hard do you think it would take to change the current culture with it's views on athletics, basketball in particular? It's a tough position, no doubt. It's a big school, enrollment-wise, but the community is not nearly as focused on athletics as Danville or Lamorinda.
I don't see it as a community issue. DVHS could be turned around by the right coach, but it would take a few years. The talent pool is pretty decent, though it fluctuates like anywhere else. The problem is that the top prospects almost always migrate to other schools, often following AAU connections. Stopping that trend would take a lot of work. It's a tough position, no doubt. So this board just cares about private schools?
Best three starters graduated last year and they rolling teams.
Alright I’ll be the first to bring them up. They deserve it.
The chief recruiter in charge Sopak got worked by the small public girls? Did anyone give him some Kleenex for his drive home? Congrats SRV . Great job coach.
ust watch the posted video… Mitty was slower and less fit than PW…PW is a quicker and more fit team.. with two minutes to go in the third Mitty had a 41 to 29 lead.. Mitty folded and was outscored 21 to 7 in the last 10 minutes
I call BS on anybody who can’t admit what is true
Past performance and poor coaching execution has turned so many away that the road to success would be very steep! The problem is that the top prospects almost always migrate to other schools, often following AAU connections. Stopping that trend would take a lot of work.
Word is that the job has gone to Trey Brooks who graduated from DVHS in 2012. Some great teams in that era. Hope she can bring back the magic.Past performance and poor coaching execution has turned so many away that the road to success would be very steep!
In order to turn the ship in the right direction, (probably turning at the speed of an aircraft carrier) I think it would take an AAU coach who has young teams in the area and great parental relationships coupled with commitment from the school, to convince parents to move their kids to that program. Right now, it does not seem to be a priority of the Athletic Department.
