Palo Alto probably best talent and team in tournament.
Las Lomas most skilled guards but Payne hurt his wrist on Saturday.
Prince was unstoppable.

Salesian when they have everyone unbeatable.

Newark puttting pressure on teams.
Freeedom same run and jump style causing havoc.
Clayton Valley very good players that can shoot. Best player not even here and he is a D1 guy.
Serra is Serra. Big and strong.
Odowd -coach filming from sideline . That was funny! They were missing guys.
EL Cerrito quit.
Hercules has some good athletes and well coached.
Sheldon should be playing Palo Alto in a rematch. That would be fun. They took Paly lightly and couldn't recover.
Doughtery could be a surprise team. They have good guards but no bigs.
Arroyo isn't that big but really run good stuff and execute.

I like University, not the best team around, but long, tough minded and as a team they shoot the crap out of the ball. They will do well this year in their division.

@togos who from Clayton Valley is a d1 guy? Does he have division 1 offers already. The reason I am asking is because I watched them 4-5 times last year and didn't see a division 1 player on their team. Did they get a transfer in? Or are we abusing the phrase "d1" again.

Palo Alto is very good expert to see them back in NorCals this year. Love the way they play.

So far this summer I think Salesian, Folsom and Modesto Christian are some of the better teams in NorCal. St Ignatius will be really good as well.

Point guard could be a D1 guy. No offers that I know of yet but Santa Barbara is interested Potentially a D1 guy but you never know. Very good high school player that makes Clayton Valley a contender in D1 playoffs.

SMALL SAMPLE SIZE FOR D1
based on few summer league games

1. Freedom
2. Dublin
3. DELA because they are Dela
4. Clayton Valley
5. Heritage
6. Berkeley could move up based on Talent. D1 looks but no definitive offers yet for point and wing player
7. Monte Vista
8. Logan
9. Liberty
10. Foothill

@togos Clayton Valley pg is a division 2 kid. Very good ha player. Everybody gets letter from division 1 schools doesn't make them a division 1 player

freedom?? Lost a lot of starters. I saw monte vista lose to James Logan by 30+ and they had all their guys there. Also El Cerrito will def be a contender. They have great size. Watched them play after my god sons game last week against James Logan. Logan beat them by double digits but El Cerrito looked very good. Jamario Bibbs from Salesian just transferred there.

Here is how I see it from the many summer league games I've seen:
1.Dublin
2.Herritage
3.James Logan
4. El Cerrito
5. Berkeley
6. Clayton Valley
7. De La Salle
8. Freedom
9. Foothill
10. Liberty

Paly's best player from last year has graduated, but from what I've seen Paly appears even better than last year and could very well have the goods to contend (and maybe even win) in NorCal Open for 2018.

So far the ones I've seen that I have as early choices to make open are: Paly, Sheldon, and Dublin. Longshot chance is Amador. I understand they have four guys playing baseball who will definitely contribute, but what I saw Friday did look solid. Foothill looked good also. CV ain't bad either.

I have to give EC an "incomplete" since they were so shorthanded at Dougherty and I haven't seen 'em anywhere else. The above-mentioned transfer should make a huge difference next year, though.

Missed seeing Heritage, but I know they won by impressive scores Friday and always contend. Haven't seen Logan yet either... Saw St. Joe's online last week vs. a weak opponent and they did look good... Will see them at Chabot Wednesday.

Saw DLS in the DVC heatbox yesterday... They looked decent while losing to Crespi, though I thought Crespi looked a little suspect themselves until coming back late in that game. DLS is DLS, but they will need to rebuild that Spartan identity in order to contend. As mentioned in another thread, Argenal will need to "Coach 'em up" in 2018.

Indeed, University will make tons of noise next year... Definite lower-division contender, and they could be good enough have a dream season like St. Joe's did last year and find themselves thrust into the Open. Boy oh boy, can they shoot it!

The finals are being played today, probably right now. I couldn't make it down there after all.

Palo Alto beat Freedom in the Finals at Doughtery. Paly also beast SHeldon who was probably the second best team .
Paly is very good. Very deceiving. They have one of the best 3pt shooters and the best driver who went by Sheldon defenders multiple times. They have some bigs that cause enough havoc. Some very smart , high basketball IQ players. Nothing special but they win !!!

Exactly. They had a couple of good juniors in high school last year, but no D1 guys. I was thinking the same thing, a transfer? Maybe D2, but certainly not a lock.

@observer22 when I think of a NorCal division 1 guard I think of James Akinjo, Elijah Hardy, Johnson from St Francis, Nadeem Gaskin, Zach Chappel, Junior Ballard, those or division 1 kids.

Yeah but those are all pretty high level D1 kids. A lot more fall into that low to maybe mid level D1 category

Pascoe from what I read on Twitter has offers to both UC Davis and Princeton although I don't think Princeton gives full ride basketball scholarships. If this information is true than he is a D1 guy. Also on twitter was he scored a 1480 on the SAT

@eastcounty i have freinds that coach in the Ivy League and that's not how they operate. You rarely here about and Ivy League school offering a scholarship. They don't put themselves out there like that. If they want a kid they'll visit him and try to get him to pretty much committ as they offer on the spot. And I believe UC Davis just signed a Pg Kihei Clark that plays for he soldiers EYBL team out of Taft hs. So that's out of the question.

Clayton Valley and Pascoe are better than most people thought. Pascoe getting the scholarship to an IVY league is well deserved. Not flashy but solid high school player. Maybe thats why people didn't think he was a D1 player.

I didn't know this was a done deal. That's a great school, but I don't see him getting much PT. If basketball can get him into the school there, or at Davis, he should sign on the dotted line ASAP.

The IVY LEAGUE does not give Athletic Scholarships in any sport... Parents pay or hit the Financial Aid line period!

Sheldon would beat Paly 10 out of 10 times in a real game. I don't know what game you were watching. Who was the driver who went by Defenders multiple times. Sheldon is regrouping after last season graduated 4 starters. Its the summer and they have around 20 players on the sideline. They are using 4 incoming sophomores at times. They are 22-1 on the summer with tourney wins at St Marys College and then last week at Clovis West in Fresno. which by the way saw Paly lose in the first round of bracket play on Sunday. From what a coach told me Sheldon went through a grueling leg work out on Thursday and had dead legs on Friday. Their best player 2018 Dale Currie did not play on Friday vs Paly. Its the summer and its funny how teams that play Sheldon try and go zone. LOL . PALY was a wake up call for sure ,as Sheldon probably did over look them. They woke up however With wins over Dublin, Amador Valley 91-39, Kennedy Fremont was like 53-11 at Half 88-25 game and Sheldon played Starters only 4 min whole game. I hear they Beat Liberty 84-42 in bracket final. Its the Summer and it looks like Sheldon is on the right track to be a contender again.

Sheldon could beat most teams. However, Palo Alto on that day played much better. They defended the big and the Sheldon guard didn't get easy drives. Palo Alto shooter had 6 threes which spelled doom for Sheldon and St.Marys of Stockton in playoffs last year. If St.Marys knew he was a knockdown shooter that didn't show. They allowed him to hit 5 threes in the first half before they starting getting out on him. That cost them the game. They probably watched Dublin scout vs Paly and the shooter didn't hit any.
Palo Alto was one game from the state finals last year. They can play with Shelon Give them some credit. Sheldon was tired on Saturday , well they weren't against Amador and Kennedy or on Sunday or the last week. Every team has multiple sport guys and are tired.

Yea Sheldon isn't unbeatable. They lose a lot. Had some decent young players. But I don't see them going open again this year. Lost their whole staring 5 pretty much. Def a regroup year for them. Paly is very good. Only loose one or two starters from a team that was a game away from state losin to a very good Logan team. I'm pretty sure Palo Alto will be on of the better teams in NorCal

H.E.A.T are you a coach at Sheldon? you know all the scores from games...better yet, what gym will you be at for Franklin-Sheldon tournament this weekend? Are you working the table for Joey and crew?

I know all the scores from all the games because i was sent a picture of the wall where all scores were posted.
