You know, I asked that same question. I would think they would challenge themselves instead of padding their stats. Interesting that a 20 win season for one team can look so different than a 20 win season for others. Will MA go open?
 
In CCS, M-A will surely be in the Open Division tourney. That was also the case in 2016. The Bears lost in that event, got dropped down to Division I for NorCals and competed pretty well against that lesser competition. Now, they have what looks to be their most talented roster in a generation. If they get dropped to Division I after another Open loss in 2017, it would be no surprise to see them be a serious factor in NorCals again. But the Open is a whole different challenge, both in CCS and in NorCals. Not sure if M-A is quite at that level. And this local tourney provides no indicators one way or the other. And neither will the Peninsula Athletic League where the Bears should have no heavyweight opposition whatsoever.
