Final MD 54 Etiwanda 50

i mean i am a south central native so i too love LA more than nor cal. i get it i guess.

I can respect that. You gotta root for your sandbox at the end of the day. But you don't flat out hate on the NorCal powers. I root for NorCal but I still respect the SoCal powers and have respect for them.

i really do not root for anyone. i have no kids and my nieces and nephews already hung banners and are long gone. i am just here to talk shhhhttttt. i do root for the inner city kids though.

Coaches ....my favorites....those with past...
Those working on second chances giving kids second chances... i miss the purple bus...

A movie for my kind of coach

That trailer got me. I'm going to see that!! Some of these coaches you speak poorly about may be this type of figure in the eyes of the young ladies they coach. Just some food for thought. Thanks for th trailor.

They wish they were most of them were born on third base and act like they just hit a triple...just some food for thought

I too miss the purple bus. I’m glad he’s still coaching though. Another movie like that was Coach Carter, and it was a true story out of Richmond.

Your logic doesn't make sense. You don't have to be from the "Hood" to be a great coach. No wonder why you don't have success. The universe will never allow it because you're too bitter.

Not a true story, fictional characters, events that never happened, etc..
It wasn't a documentary.

Not bitter I just don’t kiss up to b.s.

Please elaborate on the B.S. so I can at least try to understand where you are coming from. You may have some good points but if nobody understands them it just comes across as bitter.

I have been warned already multiple times
Are you trying to get me kicked to the curb
Next game I got to I will bring the binder and you can buy me a cold one ... will all of the Norcal Open games be at Sue’s house?

Like I said Corey is real....does anybody think Sue, Tom or Sopak would ever have the guts to leave their schools and coach at a JC that had just lost 90 straight....and take the team to the playoffs....

I can't get anyone kicked to the curb. Whether we all agree or disagree I think everyone adds value to this forum by providing a different perspective. I'm just trying to understand why you hate the more decorated Norcal coaches. The only one I haven't seen you hate on is Doc from Pinewood. If I was Doc I would be offended.

I haven't seen you do anything that the forum should warn you about. You are entitled to your opinion just like the rest of us and you haven't been vulgar or disrespectful about it. I appreciate differences of opinions I just want to understand it because I see the coaches you despise with higher regard than you do.

I have said Sue, Tom and Kelly average coaches...all three have created excellent
Machinery to bring talent to their schools...
Some people including Clay will tell you that is a big part of being of great coach...
There is nothing wrong with being average
Seems nobody else can look at things
With a deeper lens..ok now I have to go watch
That frontline special about Bezos and Amazon....you should watch it....food for thought

once again, why does Doc get a free pass from you on this?? Do you really think that much basketball talent magically appears at a school with 207 kids enrolled??? 207!!! Clearly he too has created machinery to bring talent to a small school that serious athletes would not consider outside of women's basketball.

Coaching is multi-faceted, I may not be including everything but here is a way it can be listed
1. Getting players to come to play for you
2. Getting players to believe in your system
3. Getting players conditioned [Off Season AAU, strength etc.]
4. Getting players developed
5. putting players in position to win [play calls, sets, in-game adjustments]

If those 3 coaches can do 4 or even 4.5 of the 5 I still think they are above average coaches. Maybe stubborn at times but above average coaches. If you really need someone to watch over an hour-long documentary to get a point across you really need to work on your communication skills. I still don't know exactly what you are criticizing the 3 coach about in particular. Be specific. Nobody gonna watch a documentary to understand your point of view. I tried.

Dig deeper....
Be patient....
Not proving my point food for thought just more information
Doc is a good coach everybody can’t be average
Donovan and Corey are coaches I really enjoy
I root for them....

Coaches, just like players have individual skill sets. Some are good at X and O’s, some are great motivators, some are great at player development, and others great recruiters. Your personal preference will dictate whether you think someone can coach or not. The best coaches do what they do best and surround themselves with people that can make up the difference.

Some are greedy, selfish, break rules, can’t see that the main reason they win is because they have way talent than some pubic schools, that they should not have personal relationships with officials, that they shouldn’t put constant on kid’s in the school to play for them, some think they are great when they are average ....

Specifics? Otherwise, you base your opinion on all the good coaches off speculation. These programs are like college. If you've played college sports or know someone that has played college sports then you know that every year they bring new athletes in and it's up to the athlete to do extra outside of the program regime. The coaches in college while recruiting will always tell you what they believe you have the potential to become but it's up to the player to do it.

Ankleassasin asked you a question.
Salesian or O'Dowd coach?
And what makes Sopak, Sue and Tom "average" coaches but you list Doc as a good coach? give specifics otherwise, you just sound bitter about something. Maybe an athlete you knew went to one of these programs and it didn't pan out I don't know.

I'll repeat that there are a lot of very good coaches who get no recognition at all because they don't work with talented players (Erin Llewellyn at Emery is my go-to in this category, but they're everywhere; Jeff Paul at Maria Carrillo is another).

But there are also coaches who don't succeed with talent, or are in situations where they can attract talent and fail to do so.

Coaches who consistently have exceptional records are, almost by definition, good coaches because they combine an ability to get talent with an ability to coach talent. There are good coaches who don't have exceptional records because they are in situations where they don't get good talent.

Becool, of course, doesn't know who any of them are because all he's interested in, sadly, is bashing a few coaches and getting people to react to him.

GBBall4L... you're new around here, so I'll give you the low down.. becoolpt55 aka jazzypt.. aka cupertino dave.. aka old, overweight "trainer" from 24hr/ymca.. has been up to this for years. He won't give a straight answer because he has none. He hardly knows anything about the game itself, just invests in pitting villains vs good guys in his poor bleak mind. Most here have already hit mute on him because he brings zero facts. Just be aware you'll never get the satisfaction of convincing him because he has no rationale for his thoughts.. and you know the old saying of arguing with the idiot in public...

Thank you. I was trying to give him a voice before I stopped responding to his bitterness. I definitely know the saying and I'm starting to feel it. "Never Argue with an idiot, On lookers will not be able to tell the difference." I need to apply this saying because I am getting nowhere in dialogue fast. Good looking out!
