Folsom versus Ponderosa looks like a stronger matchup for the Bulldogs.
Always tough to defeat Folsom at home, should be competitive.

Last year pondo gave Folsom one of coach walls worse losses ever. (58-34.) it’s really too bad they blew it in 1st round of playoffs because that was a great team.

Pondo lost a lot from last year team but always plays hard and gets after you. Excellent young coach (Clark woods)

I just don’t think they have the horses to stay with Folsom the entire game. This Folsom team is excellent.

I will let you know how it goes. Folsom very well may end up playing MC in section Finals. A Heavy underdog but last year they played a pretty tough game against the crusaders thru 3 periods.

Last year we got seeded number #4. We played at Folsom. Perhaps you could be right.

It wasn’t a great team….. and they had to forfeit all those wins for ineligible players which is for some reason a little known secret.

according to what I found under SJS sanctions, that's the Ponderosa football team that had an ineligible player, not the hoops team. FB had to forfeit the four games he played in.

Huh? They were 27-0 before losing to a very underrated st marys team. They Beat State champ Elk Grove by 30 and Folsom by 24. I guess one loss defines them.

All of those kids grew up playing together. Think you have the wrong team because there best transfer (manfredi) sat the entire year. Otherwise there entire team was home grown thru middle school.

He has no clue what he’s talking about. I know the program and the kids all grew up playing together. It’s what made them special.

I have no clue? Check with the section. And they absolutely had transfers on the team. Great team? They had a very good year and didn’t win a playoff game. They weren’t a great team

Post the link. Share the Names. I don’t believe it. Nothing on section website.

Folsom is rolling. Up 17 late in 4th. Ugly game but Folsom is damn talented.

Folsom 62
Pondo 41

Pondo missed a ton of foul shots and needed to have some open 3’s knocked down.
Chase Rollins (soph) played great for Folsom.

Rio vs SPSV. I like Rio vs Folsom in finals.

Hopefully I will make it out again.
Rio wins 49-40 over SPSV.
Folsom vs Rio champ
Pondo vs SPSV 3rd place.

Im sticking to my guns. Folsom wins by 25+ over Rio in champ. I don’t see this Folsom team that challenged for awhile.

I will take Pondo in 3rd place game.

Pretty weak tourney huh Larry?
Yeah, especially for Folsom. Pondo missed too many foul shots and had issues with Folsom lengths or else that would have been a little better of a game. Rio isn’t a bad team but I can’t see how they match Folsom.

But honestly, Folsom will cruise in Marin Catholic tourney after Xmas as well. Expect to see the bulldogs run off a lot of wins before they get a loss.

27-0 is pointless when you lose in the first round. especially with all the hype you had them on.
cold game

True... Folsom could find themselves untested by playoff time... I see they have an "opponent tba" on Jan. 14... My guess is the Shelon MLK showcase, is that right? Hope they get a stiff opponent in that one... Otherwise, looks like only Capital Christian and Moreau could push the Bulldogs if they have a good day. Both are "pretty good", not top-level.

That’s my fear as well. I thought Inderkum would have been a better game but it wasn’t close: Grant was missing a couple guys so that would have been closer. Jesuit and Folsom both look to have a pretty big gap on everybody else at the moment in greater sac area. Maybe Whitney in the SFL when Lamb is eligible in January. Otherwise I think league is a breeze for them because SFL is down overall. Time will tell.

Moreau beat Monte Vista this week 54-41. Monte Vista then knocked off St. Mary’s Stockton 53-51 last night.

Pondo takes 3rd place game in a spirited one against SPSV, (63-57) POndo was up 13 in 4th and there big kid fouled out and SPSV went on a great run.

Folsom and RIO next for champ.

Looks like Moreau has come together since their losses to Benicia and Mitty (by 20)... Maybe they're better than I thought.

Hard to see 100% of the time, but I think it's 28-26 Rio at the half...

The NFHS camera is clearer than most of 'em are, but the score at the bottom of the picture (and its clock) isn't working... I'm trying to keep score on an iPhone app as I watch.

Excellent first half at Folsom.
Rio 28
Folsom 26
Rio can really share the ball and there kids can all shoot,
Folsom is playing without starting pg
my unofficial score is 49-46 Folsom after 3...
yup. That’s right.
Rio is a nice team. Really impressed with how they share ball. 23 is a baller. I’m here. Folsom hasn’t had a close game yet so we will see how they respond. You can see they are “off” without micah (pg).

What a game. Coming down to wire.
Can Folsom win a close game? Rio has been outstanding.
Folsom up w with 2min left.

32 sec left. Folsom ball.
61-59 Rio. What a great early season game.
Let’s see if Folsom can answer.

63-61 Rio. 8 sec left. Folsom has made some disastrous plays down stretch. Rio deserves to win this game. Let’s see if they can hang on.

Wow! Down goes Folsom!

67-64. Clearly not playin in a close game impacted them. Congrats to a very good Rio raiders team!
#23 mvp. What a stud

Heckuva game... nip and tuck, all the way.

A couple T's really cost Folsom.

Rio has only lost once, to Jesuit. I heard from some friends who attended that game and said Jesuit played their most compete game of the season that night, so who knows. Rio hasn’t had a tough schedule, but 9-1, is 9-1.

Yeah. 1st off. Jesuit is the real deal. They are very solid. Andrej is as unstoppable as a high school player as I’ve seen.

The main reason for the huge score differential in the Rio Jesuit game was #23 Miles Lake (MVP of Folsom tourney tonight) only played about 5 minutes in the 1st 3 quarters vs Jesuit due to a dumb tech and foul Trouble. Anyone at the Rio Folsom game tonight now knows how important he is to the team’s success.

Mitty beat Jesuit without two of its starters including its best player, Derek Sangster to take the Father Barry Trophy.

What’s your point? Mitty is good?

yeah - we know. But people tend to focus on a single game result, but things change from game to game.

Anyone know if Haupt is playing for Jesuit yet? I expect him to bring a lot to that team.

Miles Lake was the best player on the floor last night.
I can’t tell you how impressed I was with his effort, leadership, and big play ability. Very fun game and hats off to Rio. Rio frosh guard was the key though. The kid hit timely 3 after 3. Ice in his veins!

Yes, Jesuit was not a good indicator of a 40 pt diff and you guys already know I think Andrej is as good of a player as I’ve seen in a long time at Hs level and will develop into a pro.

There aren’t any good losses but Folsom played without there all league pg micah who makes a big difference. Folsom never was able to get into there offense comfortably and I think they thought he could rest this tourney and they would still win. He will be retuning for Marin Cath tourney after Xmas. No excuses and the fresh pg from Folsom player great in his absence.

What was sort of a dull tourney turned into 2 great games to end. Rio is going to do some major damage in d2 or d3 this year.
