I'll believe it when I actually see it.
While Coach Doherty has scheduled tougher competition than his predecessors, it still hasn't been the program's M.O. to schedule opponents they don't realistically expect to beat.
Scheduling DLS and Serra have been the exceptions, as they stand in their path to an OPEN bid (and even then, I don't believe Folsom expected to lose to Serra back when they scheduled them).
But wrt SoCal and out-of-state opponents, the Bulldogs program has never been very ambitious or adventurous. But perhaps Coach Doherty wants to change that?? If so, he deserves major props for taking on these challenges. We shall see.
Folsom better hope Ryder Lyons isn't reclassifying for this upcoming Spring, otherwise their chances of competing well in that game aren't likely to be so good.

Thunder, Folsom has a JV QB (Brody Rudneke) who would start on 95% of teams in Norcal varsity. He already has a few offers and will pile on a bunch this summer. He's not a Ryder Lyons but he will be a power 5 QB. So the machine still cranks. He's 6"2 190 and can run also. Personally I don't see why Ryder wouldn't leave after this year. He should be a Senior anyway and he is so far advanced as is.

Folsom should of been playing a big dog every year. A MD, Bosco, BG, Aquinas for the last ten years. They like to the comfort of being a top 10 team in the state and getting that d1 state title but they have shown no interest in the smoke of playing the top tier.
The Best Folsom poster on the National Board posted that Folsom’s Coach would be confirming on Twitter….
A Good Cen10 poster confirmed it and states the game would be at Folsom….

Folsom would get smoked by those teams you mention. C10 is a perfect opponent for them. Two top public schools, similar play styles, athletes everywhere. C10 will be a favorite for sure and Folsom will need to bring their A game to have a shot IMO. Doherty has shown more willingness to schedule so I’m giving them props.
The machine may still crank, but not against the likes of Cen10. Not w/o a once in every 10 years type QB.
Not saying it isn’t true, but it all flies in the face of everything these programs have done historically.
Cen10 has never scheduled a game North of Fresno and almost never plays outside of the IE or greater LA and SD areas. Until just recently, they never left the state and marquee OOS programs always had to come to them.
They scheduled a game in Vegas and Greater Phoenix just these past couple seasons. But before that? Never.
Color me skeptical that after 35 years as a program they are going to schedule a game in NorCal (North of Fresno) for the very first time.
Conversely, Folsom never has scheduled a legit marquee SoCal (Southern Section) program, let alone one at the top of their game.
A couple of historic trends have to suddenly reverse at the exact same time for this one to be true.
I know it hasn’t happened before, but Cen10 not coming up to NorCal for a game isn’t a big deal to me. Point is, they’ve scheduled and played all their local and some National powers as well. Venue is secondary to actually scheduling and playing high profile opponents. Cen 10 has done that in spades

Once in 25 years! Ryder is that rare. Be interesting to see if it happens but like you said seems long shot.
I only lurk on that forum but you’re right, the C10 fans claim their team is down literally every year lol.
I don’t dispute that they schedule elite programs. They have. But it is still a fact that, historically, they don’t travel for those types of games sans Vegas and Arizona recently.
So the rumor that they will be the ones traveling to Folsom doesn’t instill a lot of confidence. That’s all.
But there’s a first time for a lot of things.

The knock on them that they need to play elite teams on a consistent basis is fair.
I mean Folsom got 5 state titles and 3 top ten in the nation finishes (2014, finished 2 2017 finished 5 2018 finished 8. )
They got 2 wins over de la salle which is great but they haven't played a elite team in so cal, Florida, Texas or ga.
They been Dominant for 15 years in sac area I think they record like 135-10 vs Sacramento schools.
But they also unknown by many fans outside of NorCal which shouldn't be the case.
I always said I love to see them vs mv or cen or the Trinity other 4 teams.
I think they can compete with cen 10. It be closer than people think I think they lose like 38-21.
I think if u put Folsom in so cal they be a div 1 playoff team. Bosco, mater dei, cen 10, mv, orange Lutheran. servite, Folsom, j serra

Folsom Never Finished #2, #5 and #8 in the Nation…. Those Rankings would be reserved for CA Open Champion’s…..
Those are likely State rankings you are referencing, although in 2014 Cen10 would be #2 in CA because they were the Open Runner up to DLS…..
The 17 and 18 teams beat no one and barley scraped by San Diego teams in D1AA so not sure how they would be National top 10 level teams…. 🤣
They also haven't dominated for 15 years quite yet. While they were good in 2009 then won their first State game in 2010 -- the machine they've become didn't really begin until 2012. That's when the SJS domination and all-star player migration started to take hold.
They are 136-5 against the SJS from 2012 until today. They are 23-12 against all other sections/oos over the same time period.
FWIW, our new Folsom/DLS fan that joined in October sure smells like another burner account if you know what I mean.
HA!!…. Well that speaks to the Credibility of Max Preps…. I would have to see it to believe it…. I could see the 2014 team as potentially a Top 10, but the 17 and 18 teams is a total Joke…. 🤣
I'm pretty sure the MaxPreps rankings quoted were state rankings, not national.
I believe they were #5 in 2014 nationally per Maxpreps and it was a fight between DLS and BG and maybe Allen (with Kyler Murray) at 1..maxpreps does an update every year with teams with the most top 25 finishes and dls is like at least 7 and folsom 4….i think they were #17 nationally in 2017/2018

Finished 8 nationally in 2017
They finished 7 nationally in 2018
I looked at Max preps perhaps other ranking from other publications was different those years
Thanks for the correct info! I think if you go back to 2010, they were also around 5 I believe…i hope Ryder Lyons stays next year. I know Jake Browning reclassified in 2014, but he still played his Senior Fall season and just started UW that January..maybe that will happen with Lyons..though I beard he plans to do a 1 yr mission with the mormon church so we shall see

I am going off memory ..i just went to maxpreps.com and looked up there team and they were indeed ranked #5 nationally in the 2010/2011 season…it has nothing to do with me or some kool aid..it was where they were ranked…oh and btw, they did turn around and beat that same nationally ranked grant team in the playoffs by 21 pts and then serra gardena…so no kool aid involved..just simple information we were discussing

Grant had multiple injuries of top players when they played Folsom again so 2 very different games…. No Top 5 Team in the Country gets Boatraced by a Non top 5 team…. You Folsom guys are trying too hard…. 🤣

I seriously dont understand the point of what you are trying to argue and why you need to make a big deal of this. We were simply discussing where Folsom has ranked nationally with some of their top teams and it just so happened they were ranked number 5 in 2010…whether or not they were the number 5 team in the country that year is a mute point. They were ranked 5 and that is a fact..just like dls was ranked 1 or 2…im sure if your team was ranked 5 on maxpreps you would be thrilled..in all reality, rankings are peoples opinions..you see with college football and nfl all the time…the WHOLE POINT was simply stating where folsom was ranked that year, regardless of opinion

Yes, it’s too bad we haven’t seen any confirmation of that yet, but I wouldn’t expect it while the season is still going on….
What I find more interesting is how Folsom has opened the door for a game with MD…. So why not schedule that game for next year…. The coaches have supposedly talked and the last minute game wouldn’t work this year but what about next year?….
If Folsom really wants a game with MD it seems like that is on the Table and it would be an amazing spectacle to see MD come to Nor Cal to play Folsom, they will bring a Ton of Fans…..
Next year is going to tell us if Folsom is for real…. Either Folsom plays Cen10 or MD or Both or it’s just another year of Smoke and Mirrors for Folsom…. 🤣
It definitely will tell us a lot in terms of Folsom’s progress…are they a national level type team - as far as public school’s can be (i.e. centennial) or just a state level power…my desire is to see them play BG one day (as DO did years ago) or a Texas school..if they can beat Centennial next year and play MD..maybe that will open up their scheduling options
