Tough news for Gonzales head coach Art Berlamga, who has been laid off.

Gonzales was going off its first two winning seasons in the past 15 years.

More interestingly from John Devine is: "While prep sports is in a holding pattern in California, Alabama played 139 football games last week, Indiana 133, Tennessee 117. Utah is entering its third week, where Covid numbers have not increased. In all, 33 states are playing fall sports. Cross your fingers."

Wonder if those games were played with fans in the stands? Wonder how people will react around here if we allow football in California but do not allow fans at the games?

There were fans in the stands, you can find clips online.

Driving down 101 for the umpteenth time and always wondered about the football lights at Gonzales rounding the bend before Soledad...decided to check out GHS. Got a Dew at the local mercado and walked over.

Dirt track, natural grass; old school. Tough news for that small town...

Watching a game at Gonzales' Dick Force field takes you back to the 50's or 60's. It just feels old school when you are there. And after a bunch of years at the bottom of the Mission Trail league, the past couple of years have seen a terrific comeback. Small town where the lights began to burn bright again on Friday night. Hope to see it continue when football returns.
