As I mentioned last night, I was unable to get a ticket into DLS for the game I most wanted to see, so I am down in San Ramon…

Already, during the frosh game, I’ve witnessed a couple unusual things…. When the last time you saw a (somewhat lower, but still) LeBron-style chasedown SWAT in a freshman game?? I just did…

And, it’s not anywhere near Halloween, but they just played. “Monster Mash” during a time out…. That’s random…

29-27 Granada at the half, pretty darned entertaining stuff for 9th-graders..

CalHi with a bit of a run midway thru the 4th quarter, too many Granada turnovers…. The Griz hang on for a hard-fought 61-53 victory.

Steal by long, tries to jam, fouled on the way up, 2 shots. FT’s both good…. 19-8.

Spin move by Zalmai of CalHi results in a travel…

McKeever stuffs back a rebound for 2…. 21-8. 3:13 left after McKeever gets his 1st foul. First FT good, 2nd after the time out. 21-9.

Harris with a terrific baseline move and slam…. 23-10.

now Harris with a 3, and a glance at the Cal 6th man on the way back…. 26-10.

Long with a 3 now, 29-10, Granada threatening to run the Grizzlies right outa their own gym! 1:43 left in the 1st.

Boom! 3-ball for Cal…. and a Granada turnover. 29-13.

#5 for CalHi gets inside and scores…. 29-15.

And that’s the end of the quarter.

McKeever scores to start things in the 2nd…. They got a stop, then Harris skied, tried to destroy the rim, bounced it out.

Pass down to McKeever, he does NOT miss the dunk, but he gets a T for hanging on the rim…. 33-15, Tech FT’s both missed, “Ball don’t lie!” heard from the Granada faithful…. 6:41 left 2nd.

Now we have a T on CalHi…. along with a foul, gonna be a bunch of FT’s. Nah, just 2…. but Granada with the ball, too. 37-15. LOng with a 3…. 40-15.

Traveling on CalHi, it’s getting ugly…

Harris from the high post with McKeever resting, gets inside, fouled…. FT’s good. 42-18.

Gray for CalHi puts one back in…. 42-20.Harris passes it down low to #1, he’s fouled…. both good. 44-20.

4-point trip for CalHi, but Harris with a pretty midrange J. 46-24. 1:40 left in the half.

Harris loses it to CalHi on a spin, Gray fouled on the layup try, 2 FT’s…. Both good. 46-26.

Gray with a 3-ball, 46-29.

Zalmai with a driving score, 7 straight by CalHi to end the half at 46-31.

WE were just entertained by the ninth-ranked dance team in the country…. CalHi’s group…. That was Broadway-level stuff!

CalHi’s hoopers are gonna need a performance similar to their dance team’s quality to get back in this one…. But that little 7-0 run in the last couple minutes of the first half is a start…. Can it continue?

Gray gets inside, foul on Harris, his 1st. FT’s split, McKeever vaccums up the rebound.

CalHi steal, Gray scores…. 61-48.

Gray inside, foul on McKeever, his 3rd. FT’s good. 61-50.

CalHi fighting hard here, Ramey fouled, 1 and 1 for Ramey. Front end missed, McKeever rebound.

Entry pass to McKeever, he scores…. 63-50.

Airball, Granada gets it back. 4:39 left.
