I was just thinking about this yesterday that a move like this for Grant could help revitalize the program. Hopefully they can move in and Monterey Trail can move out for football.I saw in the notes from the Sac Joaquin section meeting yesterday Grant was formally requesting to move the football team to the Metro league next year. The Grant move has been expected for quite a while. However, there is no formal indication that the Section is going to move Monterey Trail out for football before the scheduled re-alignment. There might be back room talks I haven't heard about. I'm not privy to all the information.

Totally understand. It has been a topic of discussion since at least 2018.
The Section ought to seriously consider creating Football-Only leagues. I know the journalist Rick Estrada (@BlackHatFootball) from the southern part of the Section has very strong opinions about the need to create Football-Only leagues.
I've been saying for years that fb only leagues is the way to go. Many local coaches I speak with agree as well.
Ive said it for awhile. The days of grant being relevant are long gone. Sad but that is the nomadic nature of people and the challenging economics of calif .
Would have won a lot had they been moved before the decline of the program.
What a ironic twist of fate. Folsom gets moved back to the SFL at their peak while Grant Union and Nevada Union both were moved back over at the start of their decline.
All those years of thumping Metro and CAL opponents — it sure would have been nice to have have them aligned with better competition.
Per usual, the SJS is typically a day late and a dollar short.

In the Section's defense, Grant asked to be placed in another league for football. So did Monterey Trail. Sheldon was able to get out of the Metro entirely. All three were originally slated for full membership for all sports.
MT ended up being the only team left for football right at the very moment when the program hit a sharp incline. The '18, '19, and '20 teams could have competed in any league in the Section. I think this year's team would have been a great fit in the Delta.
I believe that’s been a possibility in the past. Of course Jesuit has had many down years as well where people would be trying to push them out of the SFL.
But they do make sense on some levels.
I’d keep an eye on how West Park HS progresses the next few years. They’ve got superb facilities in an area that’s exploding in population and are in close proximity to Rocklin, Del Oro, and Whitney. They might make a lot of sense during the next re-alignment.
