To start 4 teams in Open
Sheldon going to Moreau and steam rolling them...
Great match up Sac and Folsom...

Dont understand why Sac San Joaq dont back fill..only one team in D1...Woodcreek would have had action.

Antelope and Whitney definitely can go deep in D2

Weston Ranch number #1 seed
Manteca #2 seed

With all the bay area families moving to.Sac and Central Valley ...the talent is starting to grow up out there.

Come on that's crazy talk, the Bay don't want to hear that.

Its goes in streaks right? Certainly this year you have a big argument with: Modesto Christian, Folsom, Sheldon, and Sac High. On the girls side you have St Mary's (every year), Oak Ridge, St Francis, Mcclatchy, Antelope, etc... NCS to me year in and out is the best all around section. (baseball, basketball, and football)

In 10 years you will have some very diverse areas that many of us never would have imagined. How about a predominately Asian, Hispanic, Indian, and white team from Oakland? How about an all black team from the central valley. Its happening. Look around. The migration has already started.

You post reference Sacramento taking charge, then you list Modesto Christian with the other Sacramento teams. MC is not in Sacramento.

Agree it goes in streaks. Let's slow down a little bit though. Especially hoop. Yes probably this year sac and throw San Joaquin in there for section sake probably up a little. But as said on other threads Bay Area maybe a little down this year. Some teams young, some teams injuries but yea give sac the upper hand in hoop this year. Some really good teams.

Meant their SECTION Sac san joaq ...hence Manteca and Weston Ranch... Im a bay guy but i can see our talent eroding.. i looked at 2017 group a few mid major kids but overall one of the weakest classes ever.. Milstead and Falls kid are solid but when that is some of your best compared to Gordon/Bird era and Rabb Austin era..its not pretty for east bay basketball next year

I get you ball of fame. I'm a a bay area guy with SJS roots now. I know exactly what you are saying. And the "CITY" is downright awful when you look at today vs the glory days. Fortunately we are lucky that within 2 hours you can pretty much see everyone play.

Gordon is starting to rack up double/doubles. I think that dunk contest might have been his confidence boost and coming out party. Realistically a once and maybe 20-25 year type player.

I think what is hurting bay area basketball right now is everyone is transferring everywhere. They grow up playing with the area teams, then unfortunately AAU programs sell kids the dream. They transfer to a school that they think has a better coach or AAU affiliate ties, find out they are not going to play that much, then move and transfer again. It happens everywhere, but what I see more on this board is the bay area players. If more stayed in place or went to their home school you would once again see great bay area teams. Just say no to transfers and prep schools..

This year probably SJS, but Jesuit, Weston Rsbch and Whitney all just lost.

These things do go in cycles. The thing with the Bay Area is there is $$$ and that will always equate to sustainably and quality teams / programs.

Slow down guys. O'Dowd just beat Weston Ranch on the road in a "rebuilding year"... As another poster noted three over ranked seeds lost. I think the Bay is fine.

When you take the SJS against the whole Bay, I think it is the SJS. They have the high end talent and the depth.

Anybody want to rethink this question now?

Open = De La Salle (Concord) vs. Modesto Christian (Modesto - 50 miles from Pleasanton vs. 75 miles from Sacramento)
Div 1 = Berkeley vs. Menlo-Atherton
Div 2 = Serra vs. El Cerrito
Div 3 = Bishop O'Dowd (Oakland) vs. Manteca (42 miles from Pleasanton vs. 58 miles from Sacramento)
DIv 4 = Palma (Salinas) vs. West Campus (SACRAMENTO!!!)
Div 5 = St. Joseph-Notre Dame (Alameda) vs. Stuart Hall (San Francisco)

No, Sac has clearly not taken over NorCal Bball supremacy

One could also argue that Modesto and Manteca could be lumped in with the Bay Area since many people commute back and forth each day (including the coach of MC)

Good luck to the 2 Bay Area teams playing for the open championship :D

I thought that question was premature. Drawing a blank on the great Sac champ of recent times...

I don't think anyone from the Bay Area would want to adopt Manteca or Modesto, hell I don't even think Sac wants them lumped in with them either (where's that G61 kid lol).

Completely agree. Lumped in with Fresno, Bakersfield, San Bernardino, and Calexico as places to drive through only o_O

I'm kidding guys. Spare me the moral high ground talk

Bella 123: Communities like Tracy, Mountain House, Stockton, Manteca, and Modesto would not exist if weren't for people from the Bay Area moving there. In the 1970's, the Dublin and Livermore were considered the outskirts. Sacramento definitely grew at a crazy rate due to the influx of Bay Area transplants, which immediately impacted the level of play in every sport. I believe we need to come together as NorCal, because quite honestly we don't have the fire power to battle SoCal year after year divided.
