In recent posts I have read "he is older". I just thought maybe a year. I was wrong. I just spoke to someone who informed me that multiple kids from NorCal played 16u AAU basketball this Summer that are 18 years old. My question is why? That's too old.

From what I remember in the 90's this was still going on. There were tons of players that played highschool as well as AAU ball that were "older". Its really nothing to gripe about because there is nothing you can do about it. I wont put out any names, but a few went on to sign and play college ball at a high level. If you can play, you can play and eventually you will be playing with guys older anyways. I am sure college coaches know this as well. Although I do understand where you are coming from. People don't understand how much the body and muscles change from 18 to 19.

I remember we had a guy that just turned 18 and was playing JV football lmao!

I think Jkidd turned 19 his senior year at St Joes. Who cares though he could have played in the NBA at 16. Yes I will argue that with anybody. But I think its the exception rather than the norm. AAU and all that crap is so corrupt anyhow. The 13 year old that is 6'8 usually ends up being 16. You have to take that stuff with a grain and its even worse in Comp soccer where you have a lot of Hispanics that play and have shady birth records.

Actually, Jason Kidd turned 19 two days after the state title game; therefore he wasn't overage.

Yeah made no difference with Kidd. Like I said he could have played in the league as a soph in HS. Been almost 25 years and we've never seen anything like him since.

Yup, I saw some 70 of Kidd's HS games... His combination of vision and passing, speed, strength, smarts, size at the position, handles, toughness, grit, desire and "clutchness" were totally unheard of when he was in HS, and have barely even been threatened since.

The only thing in his game that could have ever been called a weakness was outside shooting, but he remedied that nicely and is currently #5 on the all-time NBA list for 3-pointers made in a career. And even before he improved his stroke, he had a way of making "the big one" when needed.... That "clutchness" thing...

Okay, thread hijack over... Back to age talk. :)

Kidd repeated 3rd grade, when he was transferred into a private school. He should have been class of 91.

Well said kiddman32. Probably the most accurate piece I've read about kidd on this board. I had the pleasure of playing against him. Or shall I say chasing him around.

LL, what school did you play for? I saw so many of Jason's games, I may have seen you on the hardwood back in the day...
