Irish beat Burlingame 35-7.

Most of their opponents will have far more size, but important for SHC to generate something in the run game.

Credit to Burlingame for sticking around for a while. Only two returning starters and minimal big play ability, yet they were a couple plays away from a tie game at the half.

This might have been one of the few 'ho-hum" games SH has had in a few years. They dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. Helps that Burlingame's linemen were on the small-ish side. Few things to note were 1) another early season switch at Center. Last year saw a significant to a more productive offense with Jordan Fatu switched from Guard to Center. This year a bit undersized Mayorga started at Center and yesterday a switch to Bower at Center. 2) Mixon getting carries vs targets. SH doing a favor to defenses lining up Mixon out wide instead of being in backfield. Most defenses are not going to raising their hands looking to bring down a 6'3, 225 guy running full speed ahead right at them. Not sure if that was a mutual choice between Mixon and coaches to protect Mixon from the greater threat of injury being at RB than at WR. 3 games in and can tell you SH has a greater chance of winning if Mixon is rushing the ball vs trying to hit the homerun via deep pass to Miller. We'll see how the season unfolds.

Agree. The misuse of Irish personnel through the early portion of 2021 was obvious to anyone with even a hint of football smarts. Maybe they are seeing the light in 2022. That should bode well once they enter WCAL competition.

I wouldnt go so far as classifying it as misuse. I would say its more using the non-league games to see whats working/whats not working. But one thing is for sure is they are going to have to figure out this QB situation really soon because this two-QB platoon is not the answer.

From what I've seen, McGrath has a really good arm and makes some really sound throws. Patton obviously is a run first QB and doesnt have the arm like McGrath yet.

I agree with everything you said...Mcgrath also needs to show he is a leader and can lead the team or push them forward all the time...that will take time.
