James Akinjo gets a try in NBA Summer League

this is a reminder to all parents how hard it is to make it. Akinjo, Cockburn, Pippen Jr, Juzang, Manek and Gillespie all played at major universities and had elite seasons/careers and went undrafted. Juzang was a sure top 10 pick a year ago......
Great point getting drafted and making a 15 man NBA Roster is extremely difficult. Johnny Juzang was never projected as a Top 10 pick.
my projections say he was!!!!!!!! but really after that soph season he was all the buzz and was never gonna be hotter than he was that year.... going back hurt him... watson barely played this year and was drafted 30th.
Could be based upon the multiple mock drafts. As we can see the draft is all about projection & measureables and not production. He will get a opportunity to prove he can make shots at the next level.
He was def a top 20. Gotta go when your hot and UCLA was the real deal during that run. I personally think Jaques will be the better pro.
He was absolutely not top 20. He struggled mightily at the combine and in workouts. He would of been early second round at best. College numbers mean almost nothing. They want guys with high ceilings with the potential to guard multiple positions. Juzang never had either of those. With that being said I wouldn’t be shocked to see him work his way up and be in the league for a while.
early 2nd is still better than what he ended up. so the argument is valid. and lets be honest... jimmer was drafted and had zero ability to guard. he would have been drafted no doubt
I agree he would of been drafted in the second round. Doesn’t mean he would get a guaranteed contract. At least he was able to pick the team he signed with now as a FA on a two way deal.
I love the kid but he’s small and doesn’t stretch the floor plus he loves to dominant the ball. Is he better than Quinn cook? He isn’t even in league anymore and had a nice complimentary run with Warriors. The fact it’s such a global game now has made it so tough. Wish him well and I’m sure he will get his chance.
My point was his stock was very good after that ncaa run and that absolutely was the time to go. College numbers don’t not matter either. Curry exploded during his run at Davidson. Same thing for Ja at MURRAY.
I don’t love Juzang game but he’s legit 6”6, fairly long with 6”11 wingspan and can flat out shoot. He can’t create or guard anybody though and is not a great athlete.
Yes, he's better than Quinn Cook. He's more explosive, has a jumper and has a ton of more heart.
Don’t laugh to much. Played in league and had a solid role with GS. Dude has 2 rings.

People Akinjo will be just fine. If NBA doesn’t work out, plenty of work overseas
