Jelani Clark-Riordan

Archbishop Riordan High School, which was one of the nation's top teams last season.

Oh, were they now?

He is at ccsf. HE has some family stuff going on out here. He will more than likely do one year at ccsf and move on to a 4 year school.

The massive California JC system, which educates well over 1 million adults, is a godsend, an incredible academic resource most of us here take for granted. For the most part, the tuition is extremely low and, in some cases, it's free. CCSF may well be free for city residents. Not entirely certain on that. But Clark, like so many of his peers, can avail himself of a solid JC education while keeping his future options open. Good for him. Terrific talent and a credit to Riordan and the WCAL.

Prayers to Je'lani and his family. Playing for CCSF for a year is actually a really good decision, especially given the Covid Circumstances.

I'm going to make an extremely bold prediction...with literally no foundation behind it. I could see Jelani playing for UC San Diego next season, after a successful season with CCSF.

Just seems like the perfect fit for a UCSD team that is now officially a full fledged D1 school.

Jelani will not be at sfsu, unless something drasticly bad happens. Again, Usf is a possibility due to its locality and the coaching staff, which has built a relationship. BUT if everything goes to plan. He may be playing in the Big 12. AND this is not a crystal ball guess or prediction. ITS a real possibility.

I can't let the PRAYER thing to the family start circulating...Nothing is going on with the family. Lani had other opportunities to go places. He decided to play for a great staff over at City. He will be supported by people who have been in his corner from Day 1. He will be ok and make a real splash where he ends up . But let's stop with the false narratives, Je'lani is with me and my family until we get him to where he wants to be...he will be ok

So is he not at Reno nevada by his choice? As I believe he did participate in there summer workouts

Just my opinion, this isn't the platform to discuss the reason he is not attending Reno, you are correct about him being there this Summer but they couldn't do much as the team experienced Covid-19 issues. It didn't work out for Lani there, other schools came into play after hearing that he was not attending Reno but at the end of the day he has decided to attend City as I am pretty sure you are aware of the new NCAA rule he can

He is ok...just turned his ankle a couple days ago... in a walking boot, he was named the starter but this will definitely be a set back. I was there the past weekend. Now back here with Lani and getting his classes set up...
good stuff. keep grindin

Appreciate you Monroe for everything that is coming together. I also respect your realness and stepping up before this thread went south. Lani has a solid team around him
I appreciate that but can't cut yourself short either. For those that do not know , rebelsmafia never coached Je'lani a day in his life but when the rubber met the road he was one of the first people to make sure we put a umbrella of support around Lani. A lot of people like to say what they do in the Community but I know first hand what the SF Rebels org does for these young people . Appreciative of rebelsmafia and being TRUE to wanting the best for all these young student athletes.

in the inner city it truly takes a village. not saying it isnt like that in the suburbs but I only know where i came from.

Very true and I have had these conversations with with many of my freinds who have son's or daughter's talented enough to receive a paid free scholarship for there athletic ability in regards to what can we all do to help better pre pair these young men or women for life as a full time student athlete once they get to there school of choice.I believe so much goes into getting the offers and going thru the recruitment process that once a student chooses his or her school
That becomes the end of it when in fact it is when the real work begins in educating Them on time management, proper Eating habits, monitoring your circle of friends, balancing studies and being on an athletic scholarship away from home IS A BIG MENTAL Hurdle for any 18 year old to deal with. Saying all
to say to say these young men and women need Just as much if not more support after the big national letter of intent signing day.

Just glad to be able to help. These kids often times get misguided and used, When they really need someone the phone goes unanswered. Very true in this Bball world. What can you do for me lately mentality. People like yourself and Melvin from the Oakland Rebels don't get enough credit for the relationship part that digs way deeper than basketball. Appreciate the words, you know I do this from the heart. Best of luck. Still more to do.

Facts, as the kids say! We all like a little drama sometimes, we all have made or make mistakes, I know I have but if we have a chance to make a difference in a young person's life we as adults should step up.
man we all have made them. its our job to make sure we keep those close to us from doing the same thing. i didnt really worry about letting my father down as i knew he would pick me up. i dreaded letting my coaches down though. if they lost faith in you then you gone.

The Coach/Player bond is a special one for those who respect it. Through the good times and the bad times. It's been a blessing for me to see my former players get married, start their families start their careers, begin their collegiate opportunity, etc...Coach Dwight Nathaniel and Coach Hearnton played a big part in my life a long with others. I grew up with out my father in my life , but my mother was one of ten children in which I had 8 uncles...my uncles and my coaches were there for me! I don't miss my daughters dance performances nor none of my boys sporting events or parent conferences because I want to be there and I know first hand how it felt to be the kid with nobody there for those events. I am blessed to be in a position in life to allow me to be there for my kids and others. Not at all perfect but I am there for my Community and whoever reaches out and needs support. We all need it at times!
